can i avoid nicking small bumps on my head by using an electric shaver?

(Hi all. New here. I posted this question somewhere else a while ago, got no responses, and figured I'd have more luck here.)

So I've been losing my hair for a while, and a couple years ago I started shaving it off using a basic hair trimmer with a 1/16" attachment. It comes out looking okay, but recently I decided I wanted to see what I looked like completely bald, so I got out my razor and tried it. It looked pretty good, except I noticed I've got these three small pre-existing bumps on the back of my head, and I nicked them a couple times when shaving. One started bleeding pretty bad. I think I'd like to keep trying the bald look, but I don't know if it's possible with these bumps back there, so I'm disappointed.

I've heard that an electric shaver might be able to do the job, although I don't really see how. The largest of the bumps is maybe 1/8" in diameter, and about 1 mm high (I'm mixing up my measurement systems here). Note: these are NOT razor bumps; these things are pre-existing. In fact, somehow, I've managed to nick that big one before using just the basic trimmer w/ the 1/16" attachment, but it's happened only once in the couple of years I've been trimming my head. But that fact makes me wonder how an electric shaver would do a better job of avoiding slicing the bumps open. If anything, wouldn't it do it worse? Anyone have any experience?

Answer is you can and you can't ...it sounds odd but let me explain this  to you -it depends on your type of skin and do you have any scalp condition -psoriasis ,scalp dermatitis ,sensitive skin etc. (if you have a " skin condition" electric shaver will give you  skin  irritation no matter what!)
Look in short  if your skin is good quality and you are not prone to skin irritation just do it-you won't cut your self don't worry  -just buy some good quality beard -head shaver -el cheapo is always the most expensive option- keep that  in mind
  (just be sure that you buy dry/wet beard shaver because then  you can use a shaving cream  and then shave
  !I am using a beard shaver on my head -it actually works so my advice is -go ahead and try  ...

Welcome! I don't know if the bumps were just from shaving or actual moles, but if you think that you can't handle a razor, there are many electric shavers that will give you a close shave....You may just have to give it time for your scalp to adjust. Good luck and again, welcome aboard!

Welcome. I have some moles on my head, and when I first started to shave I would cut them and they would bleed pretty bad. I would let them heal and give it another go. Soon they just  became tougher and the blade didn't effect them. I can't say this enough always let cuts and any irritation heal before shaving again. Good luck

Once you get the hang of how to shave your head, you'll get rid of the problem...

When I have a cut, bump or mole problem I go electric...my Panny rolls over them w/o incident.

I guess I can just dive right in and try an electric shaver, then. I'm not sure whether I have a skin condition at all. I have some acne on my face, but I don't know if it makes its way to the top of my head at all. I'll see how it reacts to a shaver.

I'm not so sure I want to try developing a resistance to razors, though, and I'm not sure I can anyway. These aren't really moles, I don't think. Not sure what they are. Again, they're pre-existing.

By the way, do I have any other options for close cropping? I've heard I can just use a regular trimmer without any attachment, but on the particular one I have (some cheapo Wahl), when I take off the attachment, the metal has really sharp edges. I don't think it's meant to be used "naked." I have a beard trimmer, actually, on which you can remove the attachment and use it naked, because the metal part has smooth teeth which won't rip out your skin. I'm assuming there are full-sized hair trimmers available that have smooth teeth as well?

I have had several Pannys, my newest and best is the ES-LA63 which I found on E-bay. I use it often when a close shave isn't important. When I want a close, smooth dome I use DE steel. Check out my story below, enjoy.

Haha. So you shave your head with a TV? How big is it? I can't imagine shaving with a 60" ... probably really hard to drag into the bathroom.
