Hello, mauler! Looks great on you, buddy!

I'm going to echo that you could try witch hazel (try to find some without alcohol - dries out skin), and shave less often... at least for now. If you are new to shaving your head, your scalp will need to get used to it. Feel free to browse around and read some of the material here. I'm sure you will find lots of answers.

Hi!
The facial hair and bald combo looks great. Keep it.

As for the routine I would keep it simple. I am shaving my dome everyday since the last two weeks with only Gillette gel, gillette blue twin blade and aply alcohol and a bit of balm after that. In the first week the back of my head was slightly irritated but after that it got used to the shaving routine and it went away: it only needs maturing IMHO.

Hello and welcome Mauler.
I would give Witch Hazel a bash. I started to use it recently with great satisfaction.

I cannot offer any more to the conversation, other then a hearty welcome to the brotherhood, and an invitation to join in the conversation... if you can keep up (I know I can't). The look is a keeper, maybe you could try a modification to the 30 day rule and only shave every 2nd day (like me) until your scalp gets used to the regular scrappings. (maybe I could add some more after all)

Thanks for the encouragement everybody.
I have been doing every other day now and it seems to help some. I picked up some witch hazel today from the drug store. Do you guys suggest using it instead of my aftershave gel, or in conjunction with like in the evenings or whatnot?
Also, what do you guys recommend for dry skin on the scalp? I am using a neutragena men's face and body lotion that is "for dry skin" presently.

Welcome! Use the witch hazel after you shave, but before your aftershave gel. It's an astringent and will calm the scalp.

Welcome to the club! You are well on your way to this becoming a usual routine. I found that during the first month or so, a few things cropped up but keeping going is the best thing. I would highly recommend keeping going with Headblade Sport, Headslick and a good after shave burst of cold water. I then use Headlube with SPF in summer or glossy to really help things stand out. Enjoy your look- it seems to really suit you.
