When I said ID I meant identity card. Depending on my age it must be renewed after 8-10 yers, or 20 or 50.
If the person is younger (like 14 - that's the age when one should get an ID) then the identity card is valid for 8 or 10 years; in my case 20, and for those over 50 it is valid for 50 years.
The drivers license is different then the identity card, at least here in Roumania and it is valid for 10 years.

Oh, and then there's the passport... what long wavy hair I have on that, but that's valid for 5 years.

I am sly in my passport but not on my driver's license.  When my driver's license expires ... it will be sly for life.

Renewing my passport as we speak. Just need to go a photo booth and have it countersigned.

In the guidance notes, says that my passport picture should "keep hair off face". Shouldn't be too difficult.

Too true. It's been a busy 10 years. Many trips abroad, several changes of job. Grown a beard, lost some weight, lost some hair...

They sure do.

And the cost of getting a new UK passport so I can get back on the road ? £72.50 / about $100.

Try getting a UK passport from NZ, it's extortionate!

Really should get myself a passport, I had a child passport, but for some reason I never upgraded to an adult one, I don't remember why...

Current cost of an ordinary Australia passport is an extortionate A$238.
