Matte lotion recommendation
« on: February 26, 2012, 08:19:03 PM »
I have been using HeadLube Matte lotion for years, but I came to the conclusion that it doesn't work well for me.  I have oily skin so my dome still look glossy for hours even after using this product.

Can anyone recommend something that stays on the entire day after being applied?  I am trying to stay away from things that last for a few hours.

My daily routine is shaving w/ my Panasonic electric shaver and then using the Gillette Fusion blade.

Try Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti Shine Gel. I found this a few years ago now but it gets rid of the shine 100% for quite a few hours. Its the only thing i have found that actually does get rid of shine. Only downside is it isnt that cheap and only comes in a small bottle, but its amazing stuff. Depending on how bad your shine is all you need to do is just apply a bit more of it on your head until you are happy. It absorbs oil as well.

Use both matte and gloss finishes.

Gloss gives a lovely shiny finish, gives good skin tone and draws attention to your head. Oh, the reflection in shop windows. The only thing which I don't like about HeadBlade gloss is that it leaves your head feeling a bit greasy to the touch.

A matte finishes shows of the contours of the head a bit better. Sometimes I think my head is shiny enough and matte does just the job. And after you've applied a matte, you can rub your smooth head straight afterwards.

Like the option of choosing between a matte or gloss finish after a smooth shave.

I identify with dinosaur1!  I have oily skin too and therefore prefer a matt finish.  My head is so naturally shiny from the second I get out of the shower and only gets shinier from there.  I like something to tone it down.
