I recently started using a brush to shave, man what a difference. Achieving good results is a combo between a bit of everything.
. . .
By the way, today is my birthday, so I wish you all a great day
Many happy returns--and yes, adding a brush to the technique is one of the biggest single positive additions I have experienced too. I have two, one for the travel pack that I use with cake shaving soap to avoid TSA problems when flying, and one at home for the HS.
alright man thanks for the info. happy bday btw !!
valido- Happy birthday!

I shave my head and face with the Magnum M5 about 3-5 days a week and typically get about 12-15 or so smooth shaves out of a single blade. I use the blue jean method of re-sharpening my blades (though I use my forearm or a towel) and it really seems to work. I also dry the blade after I'm done shaving. Drying the blade with air and/or alcohol seems to be the biggest factor in the re-usability of my razors.
Happy Birthday Valido!
To the OP: As you know by now, you really don't have to get rid of your cartridge after just one shave. I'm pretty sure that even our 'friends' at Gillette would agree that you can and should be getting several shaves from a cartridge.
I use one razor for my head and a different one for my face. I shave every other day and I change blades every two weeks.
Also learning how to sharpen your blades against your palm may help to make them last a bit longer.
I know I am just repeating a lot of what has already been stated by the sly brethren, I just wanted to chime in with a Happy Birthday for Valido without hijacking the thread!
I'm also curcurious if you've tried the blade for more than one cutting. That would be expensive.
I'm using a Fusion everyday and have been getting at least 21 times the longevity of you.
the blue strip on the blade goes white which means i need to replace it correct ?
I never pay attention to that strip, especially as how quickly it goes white depends on what you're shaving with. When I was using Gillette shaving gel that strip would last a few shaves, but when I started using Pacific shaving oil and King of Shaves Alphagel instead it'd go white in a single day. Usually 1 Fusion cartridge lasts me a week.
