hey guys. i have been on the site for a few years now but just recently started browsing the forums again. I asked this same question before but hopefully get more feedback this time. I have thick hair and shave my head and face every other day. I use the mach 3 razor blades and shave with the grain. I use one brand new full razor blade each time I shave. I have seen some posts on here where some guys have a blade last up to 1 month. Does anyone on here use a new blade each time they shave ? Its getting kind of expensive and wondering if there is another blade I should be using or any other suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I use my mach3 razor blade every other day for at least 2 months by re-sharpening it... Brother try this site, this might give you idea on how i did it...

You don't mention why you change the blade each time other than to say you have thick hair. Have you tried using the same blade a second or third time?
I shave daily and get a week out of a Fusion blade. Only by the last day do I notice any real tugging or pulling. -

I'm also curcurious if you've tried the blade for more than one cutting. That would be expensive.
I'm using a Fusion everyday and have been getting at least 21 times the longevity of you. -

I've been using the 2 blade sensor excel for 3 days to a week at a time. They are about $1.50/ea so I don't mind changing them that often. I like the 3 blade because it seems less irritating but I don't think it does any better. It seems like the blades are too close and just doesn't do a better job but I don't think it's worse either. Hopefully, one day, I'll find something that works well and consistent.

hey.
I'm using Gillette Blue 3, and it rocks. at the very beginning I used to change te blade after only 4 days, but now I'm down to 10. And I have a full head of hair. -

I use sensors and shave 6 days a week, I normally get 3 to 4 shaves out of each, and the sensors don't cost too much either! I still need to look into how to sharpen them though.

I use Magnum M5 cartridges which I change once a week on Sunday. I shave daily. I used gillete fusion pro glide earlier but the M5 were cheaper and I liked them better. Package of four cartridges cost me $5.88 at my neighborhood grocery store.

I use the CVS brand of the magnum blades because I can't find magnum any more. 4-pack is around $8 which cheap compared to the named brand cartridges. I rinse them with alcohol when done and can get two weeks of use with shaving everyday.

There is quiet a bunch of info re sharpening blades in the forum. I once replied to a similar post.
Some are using jeans to sharpen the blades, probably all of us have heard about that by now. I have to admit, I tried it. I really can't say if it has had any effect as I combined it with other procedures that work well for me.
I do rinse the blade with alcohol and let it dry. After I rest it on a blade sharpener. The thing I use is called the 'Blade Master' (www.blade-master.de)
It is a German patent. I don't recall how I came across this, but I get the feeling that it really works. Their site is in German but seeing a few pics you will know what it is about. I bought it from a German ebay seller, pretty sure some of them are willing to ship this thing overseas.
By the way, i have nothing to do with them, so I will not tell you where and from what seller to buy it, I'm just sharing my experienes with you.
Today is the 4th Monday in a row I'm using the same Sensor Excel blade. With an almost everyday shave that must be around 20 to 25 shaves with this blade already. I still get it baby smooth but will eventually use a new blade by the end of the week.
I recently started using a brush to shave, man what a difference. Achieving good results is a combo between a bit of everything.

Many happy returns--and yes, adding a brush to the technique is one of the biggest single positive additions I have experienced too. I have two, one for the travel pack that I use with cake shaving soap to avoid TSA problems when flying, and one at home for the HS.

Wow thats a lot of expensive blades , ive had same fusion bladeforover a month shave head and beard daily itsstill sharp

the blue strip on the blade goes white which means i need to replace it correct ? -

ya i wish i could get as much use out the blade as u haha. the way i shave my head is probably wrong. i do one strip then dip the blade in hot water, rub the hair off on a towel then do the next strip of hair. is this the proper way to shave or should i not be cleaning the hair off using a towel ?
