How many shaves do you use the same razor?

Before you switch it for a new one? As a poor college kid I try to squeeze as many uses as possible so I dont run through my razors so fast, but the more you use the same razor...well you guys know what happens.

I also dont use any shaving cream or anything on my head, I just shave it while the shower water runs over my head. Does anyone know if the water causes the razors to dull faster?

I used to use cream but I seem to nick myself almost everytime, and since I started doing it in the shower Ive only nicked myself a few times.

How does the electric work? Does it get as close and smooth as shaving against the grain does?

I change my blades out every Monday.  I usually get 6-7 shaves out of them.  I've found if I try to go longer the chance of cutting myself goes up dramatically.

I haven't counted; I just go by feel. When I think I'm getting a poor shave, I change the blade out.

I'd recommend using more than just water. I don't know if shaving cream will reduce wear and tear on the razor, but it will certainly do so for your scalp.

When I use a disposable, I only use it twice at most (I get 12 in a pack for 4.99). Now my straight edge razor I can shave my head up to six times before I change the blade (haven't used the straight edge razor in about three months, because ever since I started using baby oil before I shave, the disposable has done a very good job and as I said if I keep washing it in most cases I can use it a second time.

Yea but like I said for whatever reason when I used shaving cream, unless it was the first time using the razor, I would nick myself everytime after that. In the shower Ive only nicked myself 2-3 times total while using the same razor 6-7 times maybe.

I get about a week out of mine, and suggest using soap atleast to shave with, since it seems like it helps the razor glide more

Pre-full beard days I got about a week.  Now, since I stop shaving at the top of my ear, the Hydro 5 blades last at least 15 to 20 days.  Mind you, what's left on top isn't much and even that is and was a very fine texture--it took lots and lots of spray to keep my hair in place even when I had it.  Sly is economical, very economical for guys with very fine textured hair like me.

Panasonic electric works great and gets very close and smooth especially if used wet with shave gel or cream.

Well, and the face fur demonstrates that it's only the melon that gets the blade.
