The only thing that makes it feel like Christmas is how rushed its been. Normally here on the farmstead we are busy with fairs/shows starting mid-August then in October we really get in the swing of fall. All the fall prep and such. Now we are busy with winter projects. I am busy with my taxidermy work and writing stories, others are busy with winter projects. We had snow for awhile but it is gone now so feels like Halloween still as far as weather goes.

I guess between the economy and the political scene in this country people want to start celebrating a cheerful season earlier and earlier.

   To me it does,........................but also time does seem to go by very quickly. I guess we have to enjoy it and make the most of it. Merry Christmas to all of you!

Quite depressing, but I still don't have the right Christmas mood. Maybe because of the weather? It is warm here, no frost, and the streets are very slippery (very depressing, especially if I consider that it is Middle-Norway and December...) Or maybe I worked too much and still haven't finished the thing?

What makes it feel like Christmas?

Local radio stations have been playing Christmas music since November 1. Sounds like Christmas.

Went to the botanical garden Christmas light show. 1/2 million colored lights!  Looks like Christmas.

The tree is up in the living room with numerous brightly colored packages beneath. Seems like Christmas.

I'm working hard on the piano accompaniment for the church choir for Saturday night. That feels like Christmas.

And the forsythia is blooming ..... that looks like SPRING!

Every Christmas Eve I wake my kids early and we get washed and dressed. We head out of the house and leave the wife at home to make final preparations for Christmas.
The kids and I go to the Mall or some other shopping venue just to pick up a few little extras for Mom.

A coupple of years ago I started a game on our little Christmas Eve shopping trip. The kids and I play a game simply called "The Merry Christmas" game while we're out. The object of the game is to say "Merry Christmas" to as many strangers as possible. There are no prizes or hands on rewards but we all receive a great gift by helping to spread the Joy of Christmas.
You would be surprised at the smiles and responding "Merry Christmases" we get back.

We went today instead of Christmas Eve this year because we have a full day tomorrow. We spread the cheer among many today, nearly moving one older lady to tears. We talked and laughed with that lady in the WalMart deli while we waited our turns. We left her with a final "Merry Christmas" as we walked away and as I turned to wave goodbye she looked at me with tears in her eyes and boldly said, "Merry Christmas to all of you. Jesus has blessed each of you".
I'm sure the others standing around were wondering just what was going on.'m sure some realized that they had just wintnessed "The Spirit of Christmas" in person.
