« on: November 29, 2011, 05:30:31 PM »
hello fellow chrome domes:

without sounding like a scrooge and the Christmas season fast approaching.... does it feel like Christmas 2 U?  as 4 me...i love Christmas but it doesn't feel like it 2 me.  it seems like time is rapidly flying fast.

so... how 'bout U?  does it feel like Christmas?  yes?  no?  is it me or does time seem like it's flying fast?  what's your story?

Warhawk...is that because it's still 70 degrees where you live?
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

In a country where Christmas songs are played on the radio as early as September and decorations are put up everywhere I still could not feel the Christmas spirit. Must be because of all the pressure from work. I hope to get into the spirit soon, that is if I iron out all the work related issues.

Huh, sometimes I feel that to put out the Xmas decorations too early (here, it was around the second half of October) and to keep playing tacky versions of Christmas songs in the shops and everywhere just destroys the spirit. Less kitsch would make the thing much better.

Anyway, Kalbo, I feel something similar: have so much work that "what? That Xmas thing or what they call it is soon to come, ehhh?" is familiar to me. Very familiar.

Yes, the indoor stuff is done and the outdoor stuff gets done this weekend and I have heard my first playing of "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" on the radio so the Christmas season is off and running.

No, Christmas has gotten way too complicated for me to enjoy. When I was young it was just put out cookies and hot chocolate, go to bed, wake up and run to the tree. Nowadays everything starts a month or 2 in advance and you have to select just the right gifts because it seems that people are not happy with gifts from the heart. Hell, I used to be happy with a pair of socks or a tie or a Wilson A-2000 or a Duke.

Yes it does for me, now that it's Dec. 1st. I put out my outdoor stuff yesterday and I'm starting the tree today. The temps are cooler here now, so that helps.
I haven't had many Christmas songs overplayed yet, but then I haven't really been in the stores. We have a radio station here that plays them through the end of the holiday season, which I enjoy so I will be listening to that all month.
I love the time of year and the spirit, but like Krimson, I don't get why some people start it so early either.
