Boned, butterflied, brined, then broil/roasted--a system we got from one of Julia Child's cookbooks.  The bones were made into a stock for the gravy & to moisten the oyster dressing.

I got a turkey fryer last year for Thanksgiving but it couldnt fit a big bird. My brother ended up getting a 14# turkey for 8 adults and 4 kids. We did it the Saturday before Thanksgiving and of course I had to work so I only got a small piece (maybe 2 bites worth). I still have 'custody' of the turkey fryer but it is at his house. Here on the farmstead we have a 20# turkey for the 6 adults that will be here. We always bake the turkey, put slits in it and pack it with butter then smother it with Longhorn BBQ sauce (a local steak house that sells BBQ sauce by the gallon). Already planning what to do with all the leftovers

None of the above. I'm working on Thanksgiving, so no turkey dinner or family time for me.  :'(
Just say no to rugs!

Cornbread dressing and sweet potato casserole baked off. All they'll need is a quick reheating tomorrow,

Paul, I'm sure y'all have many holidays where you eat more than you need to.

We'll be off to the soup kitchen soon to help feed the many homeless folks. It's a great afternoon for them....

Y'all have a great day!

All of us North Americans have to remember that the rest of the world doesn't know what we are talking about.

I'm a bit late with my well wishes, but I hope everone had a wonderful Thanksgiving day celebration!!
As for me, I had to work a 24hr shift at the firehouse on Turkey Day, but we had more food than you could shake a turkey neck at!! One turkey fried, the other hickory-smoked, but the "fried' was the favorite, bar none!!

Fortunately, it was a very quiet day...

I can remember, as if it were yesterday, the very first Thanksgiving that "fried turkeys" made their debut!!
Not thinking the process through, people were frying their turkey INDOORS!!!

Sooooooo many working fires that day.....

Happy Holidays to One and All...
