As long as I can remember, I have been known as a cowboy. Hats, boots, cows, horses, the whole bit. I know this may seem strange, but the slick melon bothers me with this "title". I HATE wearing a hat with this beautiful, shiny head!!

I still LOVE the lifestyle, but I feel like I'm not being loyal to who I am. Is this true, or am I just simply "balzeing a new trail" of sly cowboy?

You're missing a trick. Use the large, rolled straw to your advantage. Wear it in and then slowly remove it to reveal your wonderfully sly head. A hat is a prop. It's what you take off when you see a lady and want to make an impression by doffing your hat and say, "Mornin' Ma'am". The chivalry, the courtesy in this less than chivalrous and rude world will give you a instant great reputation. Having a hat simply delays your pleasure in revealing your glory.

I agree with Blitzed, and I actually like the (Cowboy hats) better than ballcaps.

Ever since I was a child I have always wore boots and a cowboy hat, no other brand of jeans than wrangler, and I wear my 'bling' on my belt in the form of buckles I have won. I have done rodeo for awhile, its because of rodeo that I cant walk right all the time due to a bad knee from being thrown from a wiley green mare. I had the same problem as you when I first started shaving a few years back, loved the shiny dome but loved the black cowboy hat just as much so I had to choose which I liked more. For me I prefer to show of my shine so I ditched the hat for the most part, I still wear it when I go out for a big event but as soon as Im there I take it off, dont like the lines it leaves on my head.
Plus keep in mind the term cowboy is more of a way of life than simply a style of clothing. Anyone can put on the boots and hat but it takes a true cowboy to live the life.

When Im not in my uniform, Im wearing boots and hats(felts in the winter: straws in the summer), and have for years and years. Either that or work clothes.
In fact, here in Texas, its not wise to go without a hat with a broad brim. The sun will eat you.
