Kind of been curious lately about piercing my ear... I think it might be a nice addition to the sly look i've been sporting.
Got my eye on of these... any thoughts?
Those of you with pierced ears how long before you are able to take them out for a few hours... say for baseball practice? Will I be able to use these as my initial ring or is it necessity that the first ring be the stud used at the time of piercing?

I would think that these could be used as your initial rings as long as they were put in at the time of the piercing. As far as taking them out for a few hours I think that's gonna be a ways down the road. Until the holes are healed they will want to close up at any opportunity so the first rings are going to have to be in constantly for a while (is it 6 weeks?). These are some neat looking rings, though. I think I'm going to look into them since I have abandoned my tunneling operation.
P. S.: Where do they sell these? Do you have a link?
I have some experience with piercing. If I were you, I would avoid mall-piercing places and go to a tattoo shop that has a piercer. (S)he can place the jewelry of your choice.
Piercing at mall booths are done with a spring loaded "gun" that forces a relatively blunt stud through your tissue. A real piercing is done with a single use needle that is very sharp. Healing is faster.
If you look up 316L hinged quite a few styles and brands should pop up. I've been kinda scopin' out google and amazon for now.
Thanks guys, I knew I was in the right place
What kayaker said is good advice. Go to a qualified piercer and follow their advice to the letter. This means cleaning the piercing site and leaving the jewelry in the minimum amount of time until healing is finished. I've got 0 gauge tunnels and I can tell you it has to be done right
