Just wanted to say "Hi"! Some of you may remember me, I registered in 2009, did the deed but grew it out and left SBG. Well, I'm back and plan to stay around for much longer this time.
I'm on day 5, shaved my head on the first day of spring, wishing for warmer weather, springful thinking, as I like to call it. I actually wanted to do it the day before, I had asked my wife if she would mind if I went back to the "Howie Mandell" look and she pretty much said, "Not today, you can do it tomorrow while I'm shopping". So, the next day, as soon as I saw her car drive down the street, I grabbed the clippers and took my 5 1\2 week old flattop down to stubble, showered, lathered up and shaved it.
Truth is, after it was done I was thinking to myself, oh "S" what have I done? Anyway, everyday is better and I have grown to love the look and feel! So to any of you dudes thinking about doing it, like Nike says, just do it. I may have to take a day or two off, I think I'm getting razor burn....OUCH! But would love some advice on how to get the ultimate shine going on my dome! That would make me a very happy Sly Bald Guy!!
Missed you dudes and glad to be back!!!
Dave
Welcome back Chromeo! Hope you stick around longer this time. At least the 30 day rule! lol
Welcome Back . For shine i recommend one of two things first would be Headlube Glossy or Fruit of the Earth pure Aloe Vera Gel both will help with razor burn and they are non greasy . Good Luck
Hi Chromeo,
Also day 5 - although this is a 'first time' for me. See you at the end of 30 days.
Just a few drops of baby oil will shine it up. But many with a shine comes naturally .
Headblade's Headslick is good. I think Ultimate Herbal Oil (WalMart black men's grooming section) seems to work a bit better than mineral oil, seems to me as if it soaks in better. A coat of aloe vera gel will also gloss it up.
my own approach for a blinding shine is as follows, it's involved but when you want to really glisten;
regular shave routine followed by a COLD rinse of the head. blot it dry then apply headslick, let it soak in for a few minutes. rub in a bit of the herbal oil and let it soak in. follow that with an application the aloe vera. the aloe doesn't completely soak into the scalp, some of it sort of leaves a finish on top. once it's dry a light buff with a soft terry towel.
you would expect that all that "stuff" would lead to a greasy feel but I have not had a problem with that - the aloe seems to dry it out somehow
Thanks Sailor, might have to take out a second mortgage on the house.

Just kidding, I'll give it a go!
Oh, should have probably told you that last time I was around, I was known as flatdave.....that might ring a bell or two?
no need to re-mortgage. only thing that's not a staple is the Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil and it's only 2 and change for a bottle. the headlube is the most exspensive but just about a given in any sly guy's medicine cabinet as is the aloe.
Chromeo, welcome (back), it's a great look!

I just passed the half way point to the "30 day rule".....but I know I won't need the 30 days to know I'm stayin' sly! Anyway, thanks for the comments and I look forward to posting conversations with all of you in the future!
