Winter's Coming
« on: August 28, 2010, 09:54:37 PM »
When I went sly the first time around back in 2005 we were stationed in Nebraska.  For those of you who have never spent a winter in the Midwest, it can be harsh on furry heads, much less our sly chromeys.  I had my AF Parka for duty but in civilian clothes, I needed a good hat.  An older friend of mine recommended The Stormy Kromer.  I've had mine for five years.  It's served me well in Nebraska, Cheyenne WY, and now here in Idaho.  They dry clean easily and well and they keep your dome and your ears toasty.  They're made in America, way up on the Yoop doncha know?  Jeez o' Pete, dat's practically Canada.

I'm a HUGE fan of this company and these hats.  I got mine in red and black plaid.  You may laugh, but that's part of it's charm.  And I don't care how much someone laughs at the ear flaps, when your ears are freezing, you're going to thank me.

As someone who lives in Nebraska, I just want to apologize...

I'm all for "warm" hats. I have been known to wear one of those furry trapper hat in real cold weather. ^^32

That kind of "cold gear" makes me glad I live in the sub-tropical south, even in August.  But, on my trips to the frozen north, I am rarely without my beanie, and thank my lucky stars that I don't have to fear mussing up the sprayed down combover and can stay warm.

60s, 70s and 80s here in Idaho for the next 10 days.  Low in the 40s at night/early A.M..  I've got a good Irish Newsboy cap for those mornings.
