So I must have tried at least 4 or 5 different pumpkin ales this season... Pum-king I liked the least. It seriously tastes like they are trying to fuse an entire pumpkin pie with beer. Couldn't get into it, but a lot of people love it. Different strokes...
I have to say Dogfishhead's (one of my favorite breweries) Punkin is my favorite. Tasted like a great beer with a light pumpkin pie seasoning to it. A close second for me is Big Boss Brewery's Harvest Time ale. Also delicious. Man, I wish I had saved that bottle. Love the label on that one. Sam Adam's Harvest Pumpkin is pretty good, as well. I did try a few other pumpkin ales, but they're not really worthy of mention.

Now I'm not-so-patiently waiting for Great Lakes Brewing to release Christmas Ale next month. That stuff is simply delicious. Flies off the shelves though, so you gotta grab it quick!

Does Anchor Steam still make it's Christmas Brew? I used to love that stuff.

Ahhh the debate for the ages, the english say it has to be room temperature, apparently in america it is the colder the better ,downunder the perfect beer is pulled at 2 degrees Celsius. Personally I'll stick with my perfect 2 degree beer

I've never had it at room temperature.... I would say that I've had it around that 2 degree C mark. Most Americans have no clue about real beer and drink it damn near frozen. American Lagers (from the big boys) suck and are just "beer"...... they're not really "BEER"!!!

Yes, but it's now called "Anchor Steam's Nonsecular Winter Solstice Celebratory Seasonal" Brew. Previously it was called "RamaHanuKwanzMas Ale", but someone, somewhere was offended.

My thought on these, Coors Light, for example--is that I'll take my water straight up, thank you very much.  One problem that is hidden is the high salt content of the so called "light" brews.  That will hold more fluid than the fuller flavored and less salt laden real brews.  The regionals that have become so strong in the last 10 years or so are really returning taste to the marketplace.  Now, temperature, I do think that we in the States overchill a lot of our beverages, not only beer.  But, it's going to be a while until that changes except for specialty and "gourmet" outlets.

Has anyone talked about one of the most famous Guiness Stout Drinks?  the "BLACK & TAN". This drink will, as some say, "Put lead in your pencil"!

The English like to blend their beers and this blend is my favorite of Guiness Stout & Bass Ale. The traditional way of blending to perfection; pour Bass Ale very slowly in a tipped  20 oz. glass to half way, place a tablespoon convex side up resting on the lip of glass with spoon over middle, slowly pour the Guiness Stout over the spoon, mixing with the Bass Ale but allowing it to float on top. NOW...sip slowly, savouring the flavour created when the Bass passes through the Guiness, on its way to your waiting taste buds!

Give it a try and report back your experience for us.

Next time I'm at the bar ill have to try that Black & Tan, but for now ill just have to stick with the Stella Artois.

I mentioned the Black & Tan on the last page, and provided a youtube link on how to make one. Looks pretty simple. I've only had it at a bar, though. Good stuff!

Any of our UK brothers or Continental brothers drink shandies or Berliner Weiße?  I've had Berliner Weiße years ago when I was in Germany--before unification--and it was good, not something for everyday, but a nice cooler.  Shandies are pretty good too on occasion, iMO.
