Tried Shiner Oktoberfest, St. Arnold Oktoberfest and Sam Adams Octoberfest over the past couple of few weeks. I enjoyed the Shiner version the most. The other two were quality brews but not as good IMO.

Ive been drinking adult beverages for close to two months now, tried just about every common kind of beer out there and havent found one I like, theyre bitter and the smell can be overwhelming to me. I like the idea of sitting down for a beer and all that but need to find a good one. I love the twisted teas and Mikes hard lemonade and all that. Is it true that I just need to down a beer or two before I learn to like it?

Beers of choice : Blue Moon, Shocktop and most Sam Adams.

Speaking of bad beer anyone remember these:  Piels, Black Label, Weidman's, Schaefer, Schlitz

That Schaefer is some really nasty crap. That's what I drank the last time I was unemployed about 30 years ago. I think it was around $1.50 a six. Ranks right down there with Pearl.  :P

It's possible that you're just not destined to be a beer guy. Like anything else, it's an acquired taste. If memory serves, you said you like wine, right? Try some of the infused Belgian beers, wheat beers, Heffeweissen, etc. Avoid the ales and stouts (my personal faves) for now, as those are very strong, hoppy, malty brews. There are also a lot of great pilsners out there, like St. Pauli Girl. Avoid Coors, Bud, Miller, etc.
If I'd known I was gonna live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself.

You're young, and now that you can imbibe you'll learn--hopefully quickly--that sweet alcoholic drinks don't treat you very well.  Your tastes will mature, but it takes time--not amounts consumed to educate your taste buds.  If you do drink, drink a little of the best, not a lot of the worst, if any.

I will have to try that, I love wine so I'll have to try some of those. Ive had coors, miller, budwiser, kokanee, molson, mickelobe (sp?), and some others that are horible in my opinion.

Shiner has put their latest seasonal brew. Oktoberfest is now in stores. I know what I'll be enjoying while cooking on the smoker this weekend.

Bought some on your recommendation but haven't tried it just yet... I'd better like it.   :x!

Well, how did you like it Stu? I enjoyed a few of them this weekend! I happened to see that St. Arnold's has their Oktoberfest brew out as well. That is next on my list.

Shiner's Oktoberfest is definitely a winner, my friend.   O0

Perhaps you didn't read the title of the thread......it is for "Beer Lovers". This means it is for people who enjoy sipping on a cold beer whenever we want to. I do understand that some people are so miserable with there life situation they like to inject their negative attitude towards anything others might enjoy. Hang in there mage...it'll get better.

I understand some people tend to think that however i was simply making my statement in my own way that there are other alternatives out there that don't involve yeast. Have your drnk if you wish but all things in moderation.

all things in moderation.
Well that's one point of view, old Roman, but I'd at least go to Mark Twain's take on that, "All things in moderation, including moderation" or better yet, Mae West, "Too much of a good thing can be wonderful."  I think there's a lot to be said for Mae West's attitude, but it's just my opinion.  While you're up, get me an Abita Amber. ;)  Maybe two.
