Today's hairstyles
« on: May 05, 2010, 09:19:28 PM »
Is it just me or are men's hairstyles getting more and more ridiculous?  Everyone seems to be going for the spiky, gelled-up faux-hawk look.  I'm not a fan of the look in general, but it really looks stupid on anyone over the age of 30.  I was watching The Biggest Loser last night; it was makeover night, and most of the guys ended up getting exactly that kind of haircut from a stylist who, ironically, was very obviously wearing a rug.  I never would have been able to get my hair to do that, even if I'd wanted to, and I'm actually glad that I'll never have to try.

Well, I'm all for them shaving it off, stuffing it in old nylons and shipping it to the Gulf Coast to help sop up the oil spill--only really good use for hair I've heard of in a very long time.   O0

As much as I hate that fake mohawk look, I'd rather have that then this:

Let's drench our hair in products then pull it straight down in every direction (including over the ears) and then have it make a 90 degree turn over our eyebrows so that we have one functioning eye. That whole stereoscopic vision thing is so 20th century.

It's funny how we all have shaved heads yet we look radically different from each other, but when it comes to guys with that haircut they all look the same when their hair color is the same.  I was in a Chipotle a few weeks ago and the moment I walked in the door I was taken aback by the sheer number of teenage boys - clones - walking around.  Everywhere I turned there was another one or two boys with that haircut.  They're always skinny too: how does that happen?  Is this a dietary haircut?  Can they just not see food?  If that's true how did they end up in Chipotle?  Seriously, I have never seen a fat person with that ugly hairstyle.  New ones would come in the front door and immediately head to another guy with that haircut and speak as if they knew each other.  Did they, or do even people who wear that haircut not have the ability to tell each other apart?
You don't know me, but I know you.

Yes, some very dumb looking hair walking around.  Agreed that "Guy's" is especially dumb.

When I was in college, 20something years ago, I asked a barber to try something different with my hair.  This was just after he spent 30 minutes on the guy before me to get his "just the way he wanted".
When I told him "I want to part it this way, and comb it that way...", he just started cutting and replied, "It's not in the cards for you."
I didn't know what to think, and my expression showed it.
He stopped cutting and explained that the guy before me was fussy and OK with spending a lot of time with his "Hair Helmet".  He then went on to say that even though he barely knew me, he could tell I would not be spending that much time trying to maintain a hairstyle that wasn't me.
I was a little miffed at first, but of course, this barber was right.
It's nice when a barber nips a stupid hairstyle in the bud.

For a teenager I think it's okay if you want to look like your favourite hot teen star. If you're an adult, it's scary.   :o

What kind of MEN are we going to have to run our country in the next generation or will men be  known as  BOY-GIRLS  ?

We are turning our boys into real sissies and alot of the  parents think it is cute

The only ones who will be saved are those in the military  - - -or those who become cops - - - -you sure do not see those  A$$  Ho$$ hair-dos  on them

SLY BALD is the only way

Sissies? I haven't heard that term since the 70's.

While I think that these hair styles look silly as hell, I hardly think that a choice of hairstyle, especially on teenagers, is any indication of anything other than how they are wearing their hair.

I'm with you on this bear. I don't think you would want people judging you because you're a person with a shaved head, would you?
