Connair CleanHead
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:10:29 AM »
I recently purchased the Connair CleanHead shaver and this morning was my first time using the product. Here's my first shave and comments with the Connair head shaver. Enjoy!

Package and what's included: I'm not going to go into much detail here, but I will give you some important items and things to know. The shaver comes with a stand with charging cord, some trimming attatchments, brush, and a cover for the shaving foils. The shaver itself has a base in the shape of a ball and it's actually very comfortable to hold and manuver over the head. I would compare it to maybe a square shaver sitting on top of a baseball. Hopefully that makes sense. It is recommended to let the shaver charge for 16 hours before use, which I did. It also has a five year limited warranty.

First shave: I typically shave every other day with a three blade razor, all in down strokes. I usually don't shave against the grain (for that smooth feel) that much, maybe twice a month at best. Before shaving with this new tool, I last shaved two days previous, so not much growth had occured on my cue-ball. It's best to use the shaver in a circular motion through-out your head, which I did. Of course, there will always be missed spots the frst few attempts. After about five minutes, maybe less, of shaving, I felt for any missed spots and again, there were a few, which I corrected. As with any electric shaver, it takes two-three weeks for your face or head to adjust to the new shaving method. With this product, the same rules apply. Connair also insists that you use this shaver everyday for max use.

Impression: I was very impressed with the first shave! My head was actually smooth! Much smoother than I thoughit would be with the first shave. It doesn't compare to the "against the grain feel," but it was very close! I can only imagine what the shave will feel like in a few weeks. With me, it feels like a few hours after I've shaved with a razor against the grain. Again, I'm impressed!

Conclusions: I love shaving and having that "sly" look. It would be nice to not spend so much money on blades and shaving cream every month, so this product is a big plus finacially. You don't need any cream for this and no cuts or nicks, which I rarely had anyways with a blade. It may take a few minutes longer to shave with this, but with practice, I'm sure I can "shave" off a few minutes for a faster shave! I don't really see any initial cons, other than how to clean the shaver. I'm not sure how it's clean as of yet, but I'll look in the manual and get back to you guys. I'll also try to keep this updated with my results and thoughts on the shaver.

Hope you enjoyed my review!

Thanks for the great review!

Day 2 update: The shave actually lasted all day after shaving early in the morning. There was a slight shadow, but it similar to a regular blade shave, if that helps. I would recommend this to anyone who is tired of blades and cream, mostly the $$$ aspect of it. I believe, at least for me, that the Connair shave is almost the same as a blade shave.

I will give you guys a week update next Tuesday as I am afraid that I will repeat myself if I give you more than weekly updates.

But again, great product!

Thanks for the review coyote.
This shaver sounds like it is just the thing to keep up that close buzz look, which I sometimes keep for about a week every so often. But I can do the same thing by not shaving for 3-4 days as well, so it's really not something I would buy.
There are some sly guys who do prefer to have the tight buzz though, and this sounds like it's exactly what they would need.

Keep us posted on your long term progress.     O0

I agree.

For people who shave everyday and hate to pay for shaving equipment often, this is a great tool.

Once my head/hair adjusts to the new shaver, I'm going to see if I can go two days withou shaving and see how that looks/works.

Thanks Coyote!!!  Great review, I acutally had one of these on order but it was canceled due to backorder and I was very suspicious of the product.  I am a Sly Guy that loves the against the grain smooooth feel but in a pinch would also like to have all options available and find the best for my noggin since it is the only one I have...LOL...thanks again

Thanks for the review, Coyote. I looked at this product a few weeks ago but I have been searching for it in local stores vs online, but it seems to be currently available only online at this time!

Once again, thanks for the review!

I have had my Conair Cleanhead for a week now.  The instructions say it works best to use it everyday as it will work better and to give it a week.  I initially used it from a no guard buzz with the razor and it left it patchy---so ended up using a blade.  The last 3 nights I've used it.  Feels like I am sanding my head with a little palm sander.  I haven't been able to get as close as a blade and feels rather patchy.  This morning I ended up taking a blade to it afterwards.  I think I will try every day for a week and see how it goes.  But will probably end up using it on those lazy days.
