ive had type 1 diabetes for almost 13 years now, and i cannot stress enough how important exercise is to taking control of your diabetes. with exercise i am able to maintain very tight control of my numbers in addition to an insulin pump. and since your not insulin dependent you still can turn this thing around and prevent permanent damage to your body. start exercising like the rest of the guys here have said, and watch your carbs my friend. don't let it get the best of you, and trust me there is always time to do something about it. I may sound a little harsh but this is a subject i take very seriously and would be more than happy to help a fellow guy out if you have any questions regarding diabetes.

WOW!!!!  I am overwhelmed by all your responses!  I will keep you informed about my progress.  I feel fortunate that I have a chance to get in better shape.  But I know that I can't let time pass by!  So keep me in your thoughts and prayer on this!  Thanks!

I'll keep you in prayer bruther. Check out these books.  "Sugar Busters" is a good place to start.  It's short and an easy read.

But if you want to REALLY GET SERIOUS (which Diabetes warrants) then get "The pH Miracle for Weight Loss"

I know you’re a praying man, bro….as am I….but I came across something recently that REALLY revolutionized my perspective on our responsibility in prayer.

You’ve probably heard the adage “you’ve got to pray like it’s COMPLETELY up to God…..but take action like it’s COMPLETLEY up to you.”

Another version of that is,”Pray hard, pray often, and WORK as hard as you can!!”

And of course it has to do with praying about stuff that we have a role in accomplishing (or that God will accomplish through our efforts).

Well here’s one I came across not too long ago and I have it on my wall in front of my treadmill.

“your prayers are only answered when they harmonize with your actions and efforts…The answer to prayer is not according to your faith while you are praying, but according to your faith while you are working”
