Being from PA, I gotta say Yuengling...Lager obviously, and I do like Black and Tan in the winter months.

Lancaster brewing company has a good milk stout

and I also wanna give recognition to Lion's Head, even tho it is no longer ten dollars a case

The craft beer scene IS the beer scene here in the PNW and with 22 Breweries producing over 70 varieties of beer in Portland alone, and countless others more all over Oregon I don't even know where to begin... but some personal faves are:

Dead Guy by Rogue Ales is a strong fantastic Maibock  made with a proprietary yeast, giving it a unique flavor. It also makes a great a breat bottom to a Half & Half with Guinness. Many of Rogues Ales are really above average including their Brutal Bitter, Honey Cream Ale and Kells Irish Lager.

McMenamins also has a great line up of beers Including their Ruby (Rasberry Wheat Ale), Terminator Stout (Which when mixed 50/50 with the Ruby makes the lovely Rubinator), Working Mans Red and Chocolate Cream Stout.

Deschutes, Bridgeport and MacTarnahans are all amazing breweries with strong rosters as well. They all have their standards and then release seasonals (darker in the winter to lighter in the summer) as well as small batch and limited editions.

Like I said, their are just too many to list. But you can find them all at http://www.portlandbeer.org and some of them even ship out of state if you're interested.

I hear a lot about Dog Fish Head, though when I tried it I wasn't impressed at all.

I agree Tyler.... I believe that their brews are way over rated.

There are a few local breweries that I have heard make some great stuff. One of my favorites is the Slammin Amber Ale. It's made exclusively for our AAA ball club the Isotopes. Just too damn expensive at the ball park.

I admit I've stumbled after too many beers, local and otherwise, but my fav is Abita, particularly Turbo Dog, and their draft Amber is a good reliable brew.

There's some great local brews in Seattle.  My two favorites:

Mac & Jack's African Amber
Manny's Pale Ale

OK.... I'm going to put this out there.... During the month of December, any SBG's in the southern Pa. area or just south of me in Maryland will be my guest at the tasting of some different Yuengling's if you want to get together.

So if you're coming into the area during the Holidays, PM me if you want and we'll meet up for a few.... my treat.

This offer is open to the couple of guys that I kkow live just over the mountain from me that I've yet to meet.

I'm a "GUINNESS"/"HARP" man , so usually drink a pint of "Hackett Irish Stout" or "Bill's Oatmeal Stout" :D

It's hard to believe just how many brands of beer there are in the entire world. And I thought wines were bad.
