Why the aversion to snow?  I actually moved farther north to get more of it.  My dream is snow drifts over the house like the blizzard of '78 in Indiana.  You can always put on more clothes.  There is a legal limit to what they will allow you to take off.  And trust me.  Nobody wants to see this dude with no shirt.  You could use my skin to send distress signals if lost in the woods.  The only thing even slightly tanned is the arms and face.

P.S. Speaking of the weather, we're now at about 50 days of over 100 temps this summer.  We'd better have one damn fine winter to make up for this!  :Xo!/quote]
I was living in Fort Worth when my son was born (1980.)  We had 46 days in a row over 100 and 13 in a row over 110, so I know where you're coming from.  The day he was born was 118 and I asked the wife if she wanted anything.  Of all the things, she wanted a milkshake from a place on the west side.  Took me a cooler of ice and 45 minutes to do it, but managed to get it to the hospital downtown.

Now that is love!

Why the aversion to snow?
When I moved to Texas I had had 40 New England winters and didn't want a 41st.

I could deal with the cold, it's the snow that drove me away.

It's pretty when it's coming down, but it's a pain in the ass in every other way. Especially when commuting during the winter. And then dealing with ice dams on the roof. And basements that flood during the meltdown. And muddy slush all spring. And 2-foot snowstorms in April just when you think spring has sprung. And limbs of trees coming down from the weight. And power outages from lines collapsing under the snow.

And yes, I was there for 78 and I actually had to tunnel to find my car under the drift it ended up under.

More power to those who like the snow, but I had my fill and will never willingly deal with it again.

LOL. I hear ya. I'm of French-Canadian heritage -- I give a whole new meaning to the term "white".
