Contact lenses

Any of you other SLY Bald Guys ever worn Acuvue 2 contacts?  If you haven't, don't, they are the worst lenses I've ever had in my life.  They dry out quickly and are uncomfortable.  The don't last very long either.  Just my two cents worth.

Had the same experience when they came out a few years back.  Told my dr. not to ever give me those again.

I currently wear ProClear.

I used to wear them, the multi-focal kind, and found they would tear or "chip" easily.  B & L now, pretty good and better than Acuvue.  Only thing I liked about them was they were tinted slightly blue, made them easier to see in the container in the morning.

Do the multi-focal lenses work?  I'd like to get contact lenses but now that I'm on the better side of 50, I don't want to have to wear reading glasses over the contacts.  I've heard mixed reviews on them.    :D

I wear Proclear as well.  They're the most comfortable lenses I've ever tried.

You guys should try getting your eyes fixed. I had Lasic  done almost 9 years ago and love it. Of course now i'm getting to the age where I need reading glasses.

I asked about that on my last eye exam.  The doctor said to wait until after 40 to have it done, until changes in the eyes stabilize.  I'll ask again the next time I have an eye exam.  Any idea how much it costs these days?

Like a charm and I'm pretty much totally against any eye surgery, too many changes too fast--I don't want "last year's" product when my eyes are stuck in a prior condition due to surgery.  I'll put up w/ a few minutes in the morning and evening thank you very much.

Perhaps we should have a contacts care and tips sub-forum.  My contacts always seem to be a hassle, and having such a deep base of contact wearers might help us find better products.

I'm running pretty low on contacts now and am gonna to go get an eye exam too.  I would consider LASIC, but not for another few years.

I remember 5 years ago I went to my optometrist to get contacts.
It was supposed to be a session where I would try some and were taught how to
put them in and take them out.
It was a disaster. :(   I didn't wear contacts ever since that first day I tried them on
at the optometrist....too difficult for me.   So I will stick with my glasses, but hey it sucks
to play sports with glasses on..

Same thing happened to me the first time I tried contacts.  It took forever to put them in.  It was right before I went to Ireland for a vacation, and on my first morning there, I ripped one -- and they weren't the disposable kind.  So I kind of gave up on them for a while.  Eventually I tried again and got the disposables; for some reason they were much easier to take in and out.

Glasses drive me crazy!  The first time I put in contacts about 25 years ago, I thought I was going to die!  It was horrible.  But now, I wouldn't have it any other way.

As far as LASIX goes, I am in no hurry to have my cornea cut off, pealed back then have a laser put to my eye.  LOL  My wife had it done several years ago and loves it.  Me, no hurry here.  I'll keep my contacts.

That's the way I've always felt as well but I've been thinking about LASIX a lot more in the last couple of years.  It seems like it's been done long enough to know if there are any long-term problems related to it.  The problem with contacts is that you're trading in the hassles of glasses for a whole new set of hassles.  It would be nice to be free of all that crap.

I finally had to break down and get reading glasses recently.  As if kids didn't already make me feel old...
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

I wear focus dailies.  Fresh new pair every day!
