How long will it take for my noggin to look normal? and not white?

I'm currently 16, and I just shaved my head, but it looks white, not like vampire white, but that newly shaven head white.
Was just wondering how long it would take before it looked normal, and how I could speed the process to make it look better?
Any advice?

Over time it will darken up, but one thing i'll recommend you doing is buying some sun block. Getting sunburnt on the dome hurts!!

Yeah, don't make the mistake of going out into the sun unprotected to "get some color". It won't be the color you are after!

Grab some Banana Boat Sport "Dri-Lok" sun block and have a little patience. It will darken up soon enough.

Use a self tanning product and nothing extreme just enough to take that overly pale look off the dome.
Works for me

Self tanner will speed up the process some. Just don't go too wild with it. Jergens makes a good one.

Hey SlickA, what do you mean don't go too wild with it?? If I'm doing my head I'm assuming I would have to do my face and neck???

Face and neck too? Depends on how much color you put up top.
They are very progressive products. I agree the Jergens line is good.

Mow the yard on a nice summer day. That's my trick.
The more sun, the less shadow is noticeable.

I have come to the conclusion that the self tanners do not work as well on the scalp as other parts of the body.
They do work, just not as dark/tan as easily nor do they last the same.
I wonder if it has something to do with fat content.
Anyway they do work the upshot is likely a bit more reapplications and less need to worry that your dome will become darker than your face and neck.
I must use the self tanners because I really hardly tan at all and easily burn. I would never get "good" color on my dome based on sun exposure.
FWIW,
Eric

I just use an spf15 on my head until it tans enough, then use spf30 to keep the cancer off the noggin!
