Never done it with the cell. I HAVE called the landline a few times to leave messages so I wouldn't forget something though.
Of course I've done it. What gets me worried are the times I call and can't hear it. Usually that happens when my wife loses her phone. It ends up being in her car. Or on the ground in the front yard.
I dropped my phone in a parking lot once. Someone found it (actually his kids). He went through the address book and called my house, which I had as "Center Street." That's what my roommates called our place we lived in while in college. I'm glad he figured that one out. So now I always have an entry called "Home."
I heard the new iPhones have a lost phone feature. You can send a message to it that makes it ring and displays a message saying "This phone is lost, please hold onto it and call xxx." You can also look up the phone's location on the internet through its GPS. And if it's stolen or lost for good, you can backup your data and wipe out its memory remotely.
I wouldn't mind having an iPhone, but I will not pay an extra $30 a month for the service.
we do that at least once a week here at the homestead. someone is always misplacing a phone.
