I absolutely did yes. But my dad was my bald role model, who would wear a hairpiece, and be the subject of snide remarks by my 'friends'. So in essence that probably explains why it was such a fear to me when my dad dealt with it in the way that he did!

Nope, never feared it. I always said if I ever do start to lose it, I would shave it all off.

I went the buzzed shorter and shorter route, and was planning on shaving eventually. Then I found these guys, who helped me over that final bump.  The encouragement and positivity here was great.  Thanks guys!   O0

Not been here for a while, I never feared balding, or even noticed other people being bald until I noticed it on myself, and I still fear it at times, up and down days i guess, but have to admit that since joining here a few months back I have buzzed down to a No.1. It has done wonders for my confidence, and I have to say, it has not dented my dating game at all, if anything i've had more attention since buzzing. I'm not sly (yet) as still dealing with a head shape issue... wanna do it so bad but when I was 3 i fell down the stairs and I cracked my skull on a radiator and now have a large ridge at the front of my skull and down the left side, invisible with a little hair but petrified of how it will look totally bald. I will do it... even if eventually by natures force  :x! , just building that last ounce of confidence that I need. Not posted much as don't feel like i've earned it yet... but i'll get there. I would like to take this opportunity however to say thank you to everyone. This place is like a sanctuary, on a bad day, I can come read some threads, and instantly feel fine again. Every bald/balding guy should come here!

Dax, relax, take a deep breath.  If you shave it to the bone and you don't like it after 30 days--the recommended period--it will be back to a #1 in a week.  Don't beat up on yourself, this is supposed to be a freeing experience.  Relax, lather up, get free.  Everyone here will tell you the only regret is that you didn't do it sooner.
See you on the SLY side brother.

Same here, and I started buzzing it at 21 (I'm 24 now). I haven't used the razor...just a 0 guard as I still have a hairline.

However dealing with this young is tough. 95% of friends / family my age have hair. LOL

Yep i have feared and still fear balding. I like to change my hairstye and i am used to comments on how good my hair looks. Since a year or so my hair started receding pretty fast because mpb. I never thought i would ever lose my hair.

Using propecia stopped that process, but due to a bet i am laying the stuff off (Apart from that i am not really fond of putting drugs into a healthy body). Unbeleivable how fast the hair loss picks up again. If this keeps up, i will be an official 'bald guy' in two months or so. I envy guys with full heads of hair and think i am more the full-head-of-hairtype kind of guy with.

In short i am not the "proud-&-in your face-bald-guy. (on the othe hand i understand it is only hair and it is all a matter of vanity)

When I first started loosing my hair it really bothered me. After I shaved my head I liked the look and now I don't regret it. My wife also likes my bald look better than thinned out hair.
Our country demands all our strength, all our energies. To resist the powerful combination now forming against us will require every man at his place. If victorious we will have everything to hope for in the future. If defeated, nothing will be left for us to live for.

Yes, I fear being bald.  I feared it in my early 20's when I started to notice some thinning and I fear it almost as much now, ten years later.  I need to grow a pair and shave it.  Sometimes my weekness disgusts me.

Pharmer:
Fear and anxiety can be a good motivator! Put it to work for you and go for it. Shaving would eliminate any concern about "going bald" or "balding" and let you live as someone who is definitely, decisevely and confidently bald.
Trust me, it's pretty empowering. I feared the reactions more than the baldness. Turned out to be a non-issue on both fronts. Give it a shot!
