hello everyone, I'm a new member. Not bald yet . Thought I would join as I have been looking around this forum for answers for a couple of hours now. I found it after doing a search on whether to go bald or not. found it a little helpful.
I went to a birthday party yesterday and some successful arse that I knew when I was younger who owns the business said to me as I walked in 'love the comb over' I didn't answer him. I was pissed at first, but when I got home I thought to myself is it time to just be done with it and shave it all off or should start using pills and products again. most of the time at work I'm outside and just ware a baseball type cap to cover it. or when I go out. but there are places a cap is not suitable. that's when I feel exposed.
I'm about to turn 30 this year, but I think I have been slowly going bald for more that 10 years.
I just get annoyed when people take the piss when they have a full head of hair, older than me and have no idea at all what is like..
oh and I'm thinking of joining a gym. where a comb over bouncing around everywhere is not a good look. so thats whats got me thinking I should just give up and shave.
The only thing is I think I'll look silly as i have a tan line level with my eyes from always wearing a cap.. my forhead is white as.

Hey General Lee! I loved the dukes of hazard! Anyway. It's just some idiot that feels bad about himself that thinks it's good to pass it onto someone else then to deal with his own problems. Don't even give his comments a second thought! If you feel that it's time then it is. Become a Chrome dome like most of us and be done with it. Next time you see him then he will know, is he gonna call you Mr. Clean? Then you can say "can't you come up with something more original? " The only way you can tell is to shave it. If you don't like it, it will grow back. Get some sun from wearing the cap. I can almost guarantee you that a few times out bald, you will be thinking, look at all the people checking me out. And don't worry about what people think it's their loss not yours!

Hey BaldMark
thank you for your reply. I think if I did decide to shave it all off I couldn't really go back to my current hair style.
I just think I'm in denial on the inevitable. I haven't like my hair for awhile now and wished I was one of these lucky people that have a full thick head of hair.

Welcome to the Forum General!
My friend.... please do yourself s favor and banish the combover. Ny your own comments you know that it is silly so be done with it.
Get yourself some clippers and buzz it down to a 2 or 3 for a week. Then a 1 or 2 for a week. Then with no guard for a few days and then shave it.
Get some Jergens Natural Tanning lotion and you'll be good to go.

Why dont you post a "now" pic and let us judge how we think you would look shaved? (Incidentally, I havent seen anyone who doesnt look good and I would be willing to bet you WONT be an exception)

General Lee ~ Welcome to the forum! You are going bald, dissatisfied with your combover, know it doesn't hide your baldness, AND you are visiting this forum: I believe you know you are ready for a change. Shaving to the bone probably seems drastic to you. But for the love of pete, PLEASE get some clippers and at least buzz it down, slap some sunscreen on the bean and be done with the combover. An enormous weight will be lifted off your shoulders and you'll experience a freedom you've not felt since you saw the first clump of hair part company with your head! Good luck, and best wishes.
Post a pic for plenty of (un)biased opinions.

If you are resenting comments about comb-overs then I think you know what the next move has got to be, bro.
Don't go down the pills and drugs route: just buzz it down or better still shave it off: You're WAY too young to have a comb-over, bro. Over here in The UK its only people over seventy that sport those things.
Don't take it the wrong way, but at least get rid of the comb-over, even if you don't shave it

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, bro, and welcome to SBG

Hey, General ~ thanks for the pic.
The hair is a big distraction. I mean no disrespect, but frankly, the combover is not working. When I look at the picture, that's what my eye is drawn to.
I can see that when you ditch the hair you'll be flying high. You're a natural. Your were made for SLY.
I encourage you to at least give a short buzz a try. It will be more liberating than you can imagine, and simply has to be experience to be believed. Best Wishes,

Welcome to the SBG Family General Lee,
We are glad that you've joined us, here are alot of great people here. After reading your post I too agree with my fellow SBG's, I realy do think that you should go ahead and shave it all off. It's obvious that the comment from your old friend bothered you and as you sort of admitted, that you do try to cover it up, and you are now worried what people will think at the gym. After shaving it all off you no longer have anything to hide! You won't have to wonder when you are out in public if people notice your thinning hair, or notice your comb over. They will be looking at a stronger more confident man, who is comfortable with himself.

Welcome, you're at the right place. Now consider the facts: 1-You know that you're losing your hair and have been for a long time, 2-The combover isn't working and it doesn't work for anyone so it's not your fault, 3-Hair grows, and grows fairly rapidly. Conclusion--shave it for 30 days, and if you don't feel better at the end of 30 days, go back to a buzz and cap. Our bet is that at 30 days, the tan line will be mostly history, you'll feel free, and the comments you do get--it won't be that many--will be overwhelmingly positive. Go for it, you're wasting time and mental energy on this self examination--STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP.
