I've had a question about what airports are available, so here is the info:
O'Hare (approximately 30 miles) - Big, busy airport. Traffic heading north from here on Friday afternoon/evening can be brutal.
Hub for the following airlines - United and American
Other Airlines - Continental, Northwest, Frontier, Delta, American Eagle, America West, US Air, Spirit, Jet Blue, United Express
Milwaukee (approximately 45 miles) - Smaller airport, easy in/out, traffic can be bad on Friday afternoons but only for a relatively short distance. Tickets are typically more expensive, but deals can be found.
Hub for the following airlines - Midwest
Other airlines - United, Northwest, AirTran, Delta, American Eagle, Continental Express
Midway (approximately 60 miles) - Smaller airport, but in a bad section of the city. Traffic can/will be horrendous on Friday afternoons.
Hub for the following airlines - Southwest
Other airlines - ATA, Frontier, Northwest, Air Tran, Delta, Comair, TED, American, Continental
For those of you that will rent a vehicle, make sure you have plenty of change available - no matter which airport you fly into, there are toll roads to get to the area.
i think miwaukee is cheapest for me. as long as SOMEONE will pick me up at the airport.

Bad section of the city?!?
My keyboardist lives about three or four blocks west of the airport. It seems nice enough for me. I'm not picky though.

Yeah... The area around Midway pretty much sucks... unless it's been cleaned up dramatically in the last year.
I wonthave to worry about airports...im driving up on my pink scooter. Actually I will be driving my blazer......so if anyone needs a lift along the way..give me a shout.
O'Hare Airport is a sh*tfight, I tried getting a cab to Wilmette 1 time out of there and it took about 4 hours.

I live in the Joliet area, so Midway is a breeze!
Wow this sounds like fun. I am looking into booking a flight now.
OK bros, Attention: anyone flying into O'Hare between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
I live in the O'Hare area and could give you transportation to the restaurant in Lake Villa on Friday evening.
Robmeister you're still tentatively on my pick-up list. Let me know.
PM me for personal contact info, or use the e-mail address in my profile.

Thanks, Red...but I'll be taking a cab to Rolling Meadows Holiday Inn where Paul is picking me up.

Definitely have to make a reservation with the cab company.

Yes, definitely. With a reservation you'll get a better rate.
Cheers,

OK...Chi-town veterans...
so I'm calling a few cab companies in Chicago who are sort of "chuckling" at my inquiry into getting a reservation for a cab.
They're all saying to just go to the nearest taxi stand at O'Hare where all the cab companies line up.
I reiterated that I'm coming in Friday at 5pm....
They said, "don't matter.....just rush hour"
I told them about JDogs 4-hour dillemma and they LAUGHED....
I mean what does a reservation do? Send a special cab to O'Hare that waits ONLY for Rob Blackmore?
