seeing old friends
« on: November 30, 2007, 11:39:34 PM »
hey, i have recently started going bald and have lost a ton of hair, so whenever i see friends i haven't spoken to in a while, it is always awkward for me b/c i feel so insecure about how i look. what have you done in these situations? what's the first thing you say to the friend, especially when they don't initially recognize you if you were the one who said hi first.

That's one of the most liberating things about being SLY.  It's not what has happened to you.  It's about what you decided to do with your appearance.  It is truly you taking control of the situation.  Not being a victim.

Insecure?  What?  Nahh not me.  Yes maybe at first, mainly around immediate family members...but now...heck if I run into someone that doesnt recognize me I just let it go.  Sure I look different...but Ihave had a few come back to me later and say ...wow I did not recognize you the other day.  I just tell them ehhhh its alright....we all get older at one time or another...and we lose our minds and memory....but its a good thing for me cause I remembered who you were.  LOL.
