My best buddy is a drug task force agent and does some undercover work. No amount of pay is enough is far as I am concerned. Also, they don't get enough respect. We should appreciate them more.

Well, first step (application screening) was successful with Jefferson County Sheriff's Dept.
I know it's only the application, but for me this is an initial victory. This was the point at which I was disqualified by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept back in '99 because of the laundry list of drugs I was honest about using back in the music business days.
I was honest again and received this email this morning from the recruiting Sergeant:
Rob,
Your application has passed the initial screening. You will be notified by mail and/or a phone call of a testing date sometime in September.
Good luck!

Congratulations brudda and good luck.
It is a tough job and I'm glad there are good people out there to do it.
I'm not a commissioned officer myself but I am a Defensive Tactics instructor for Missouri and Illinois.
I also teach OCAT (Pepper Spray), baton and various other programs to LE in the area.
Several of my best friends are LEOs that I've trained with for years. My instructor was a cop, and his instructor was also.
I always remind my students that we should fear for any society that pays and respects those that entertain them (stars, athletes, etc.) more than they do those who train or protect them (LE, teachers, EMTs etc.)
It makes me think of the fall of the Roman Empire. Gladiators have been replaced with Reality TV 'stars' but there are a lot of similarities. Distract the masses so they don't see the big picture. Oh well, enough of my soapbox.
Congratulations again and my respect for sticking your guns and telling the truth. Loyalty above all else except for honor.
Dave
