Should I shave now during winter, or wait for the summer sun?

Hi all,
so my hair has thinned quite fast in the last 3 years (I'm 23) and I finally decided to go bald.
However, now it is winter here (northern Europe - the sun is as weak as in Canada right now, most of the days are cloudy) and I'm afraid I'll have a white stripe around my head! My skin is pale, my hair black and I'm skinny.
The top of my head might still be tanned from the summer sun, I've been travelling around the equator whole summer.
Should I wait until summer, or will it even up somehow? How fast would you say? I won't have much time to go outside to catch some sunshine during the days... And I don't tan fast. My hair is black, my skin tone very pale and I think I am quite bald now - skin is already shining through the few hair on the top of my head.
Would a clipper be a suggested solution? Or should I just wait a few months?

A picture will certainly get you better responses.
However, looking back on my own experience and knowing what I know now, I would not wait another day. There are so many benefits (confidence, simplification of hair 'maintenance,' etc.) that being a bit pale wouldn't matter.
And the sooner people get used to the "new you" the better off you will be.

Welcome. You should definitely shave it. I'm 23 myself and its defiantly a great feeling.
Re: tan.
If its that cloudy/cold you summer tab should fade pretty quick.
You could use moisturiser that slowly builds a tan if you were really worried?
Good luck

I wouldn't worry about the tan. Shave it and enjoy a cap during the winter!

A winter shave definitely shows less contrast than a summer shave when your face is tan. If this is something you want to try, now is the time.

You guys should close this whole section of "To be or not be...Bald" and instead, write a large TO BE! YES! SHAVE IT!
Just kidding, haha, thanks for the support. You guys are awesome! Such a well-established and friendly forum is a gem.
I think I will buzz it tomorrow (70%). I hope my head won't turn out to be odd shaped as I suspect.
Is there a big difference between #0 buzz and shaving?

You wouldn't think that there is. But there is!
I did the #0 buzz for about 20 years before shaving. I was astounded how amazing it felt.
With regards to now or later: excuses, excuses!
Do it now!

Difference in how it feels 100% yes!
How other people think it looks, not so much!
I went from a
buzz to shaved and barley anyone notices TBH.

Welcome alpha!
I started shaving during summer, but now it's winter here (freezing winter I might say) and I'm sicking to it.
The visual difference between #0 buzz and a shave is not that great, but the difference in feel is and it's worth it.
Just because you tried the shortest buzz doesn't mean that you experienced the sly look.
Good luck! and let us know about the progress and how much you enjoy it.

So I shaved my head today and I look quite good
I did shaving right after buzzing. Feels great. No tan lines at all, just the dark shadow. And the best part is that I am the first one of my class year and the first of my friends
I'm interested who'll follow. Thanks for your advice guys, keep it going here.

Looking for a pic to prove it happened :-)
I hope you'll post back as you get responses from family/friends/classmates, and what you learn about being Sly over the next 30 days. It's one of the best things I ever did for myself.
