I've been paying more attention to the forum posts regarding safety razors of late, and it has piqued my curiosity. I've never owned or used one, but remember my dad having one when I was a kid. He's been gone for almost 35 years, so I have no idea what his particular safety razor was, though it would be nice to know that, and even nicer to have his old razor to cherish.I'm not sure I could bring myself to try shaving my head with a DE safety razor...looks pretty intimidating! How long does it take to become proficient at DE shaving? I currently use the Fusion. While I don't dislike modern cartridge razors, they don't require much skill to use, and are very expensive. I know I'm preaching to the choir here...LOL. In reading up on subject of DE shaving, I'm seeing that many report having less irritation than what they get with a cartridge shave. My skin is fairly sensitive, and with Fusion I usually can't shave every day without irritation.I'm finding myself drawn to the classic, simple design of a safety razor. I want to learn more.
Check out www.badgerandblade.com. I am a member of this forum that is dedicated to the traditional way of shaving. I learned a lot from this fine forum. They have many quality members like SBGs.WARHAWK
Hey guys, thanks for the encouragement! I just pulled the trigger and ordered an Edwin Jagger DE89L. Does it come with a blade or two to get you started? I didn't order any blades, figuring I'd just scope out the local options like Walmart or Rite Aid, etc. Same thing for shaving soap and/or creams. I already have a cheap brush and bowl that I bought at Rite Aid a few years ago. I'll get something nicer when I can afford it.I have never been a user of after shave products, but I have to say that the Osage Rub that Warhawk seems to favor looks very interesting.I'm looking forward to trying out DE shaving!
