It's hard, but I didn't shave today, going to try and go 3 days without shaving so I can go and try a new barbershop. I found a master barber that only charges $15 for a headshave. I like to have more than stubble to shave.

Let us know how that goes. I haven't been to a barbershop since the first time I started shaving my head. But, I've been wanting to go back for that bit of sit down relaxation while it's getting prepped and shaved.

I have mixed feelings about a barbershop shave. They never go close enough. I wish I could find one that would do a double edge against the grain that would rock!

Fifteen bucks, RedDog?
Man, if I could get one for that price, I would be there every Saturday regardless of whether I could get it smoother on my own. Enjoy it, sir.

Yes Cave, if this guy is good, I could go once a month. He had great reviews online. I'm planning on going Friday, I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, I finally got around to trying a new barber. I had 4 days of growth, and he was the one charging $15. It looks like you get what you pay for. He didn't seem too happy to be doing a headshave. A warm towel for about 30 seconds, foam shaving cream, and a not very sharp razor. Only took him about 10 minutes and the result felt like my head feels after one days growth. I would gladly pay the extra 6 bucks and have my other barber shave me.

Dang. And here I was all set to be jealous of you.
Sorry it did not turn out so good. I hope your tip reflected your feelings.

With respect, gentlemen, don't ever have a headshave by a barber who is reluctant to give a one.
I have had four, from four different barbers. Truth be told, I can always shave my own head better, but that's not really the point. I consider it a luxurious indulgence. I'm still looking for the ultimate barbershop headshave.

You are so right Red. I think you could get a super shave and experience at The Art of Shaving. We have two of them in the Twin Cities, but very expensive.

My face and headshave at Art of Shaving (Schaumburg, Illinois) was one of the best I ever had, however I dropped about $100 for the shaves including tip. It was a meticulous, unhurried shave. I was a birthday treat for myself.

That's a bummer to hear reddog. Sometimes it's worth spending the few extra dollars to get exactly what you want.

You are right DOC, the other guy I went to did a much better job and the experience was much better. If I could get my first barber to finish with a pass against the grain, it would be a fantastic shave, worth the $21.
