I may have been too hasty in my review go the Wilkinson Sword blades. I've been using one for a few days now and have come to like it. It seems to be pretty forgiving if I get a little too quick with my shaving.
And I may have been to judgmental about the, "Lord"...I put it in an Edwin Jagger and got a very good face 'n' head shave. But still ain't my fav.
@MMArob; Like was said, the Merkur is a very good choice and also the Jaggers and not a huge investment. But I gave a relative of mine a 1947 Gillette Super Speed that my Father had and it was appreciated and worked fine. You can find many of the old style Gillette's in antique, second hand and thrift stores for a few bucks. G'luck with it.

Highjacking the thread again to go OT:
Which safety razor is a good starter?
I'm talking about a keeper, without need to upgrade later!
It can cost a little more too as long as it's really worth it...Christmas coming up and all!
Thx,
Rob
Hi Rob: There are so many out there. I would definitely consider either an Edwin Jagger 89L or any Merkur razor. Keep us posted when you get one with pics.
You will pay a little more initially but they will last a lifetime also you can get a 100 pack of DE blades like my favorite the Astra SP blades for under $11.00 on Amazon.com.

Hi Brian: Fortunately... it is still warm in my area. We get very mild winters.

Last night's shave of the day was super smooth. I shaved both face & dome. This time I went vintage & shaved with my 1960 Gillette Fatboy. The Gillette Fatboy is my favorite vintage razor. It is built like a tank & shaves like a dream.
Razor: 1960 Gillette Fatboy (dialed @ #7)
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium
Soap: Mike's Natural Soap (Lemongrass)
Brush: Semogue 620
Dessert: Ice cube rub, refrigerated witch hazel

Things have been quiet on here of late, apart from Warhawk of course!
Anyway, I had a fantastic Sunday evening shave with the following set-up:
Razor: GEM Featherweight
Blade: GEM SE blade
Brush: Omega boar. Small but a lathering powerhouse!
Soap: Godrej Shaving Round (the staple cheap soap of India)
Dessert: witch hazel followed by Razorock Aftershave Wax.
A wonderful, wonderful shave!

I've been shaving my head in the shower with my HeadBlade, RazoRock XXX shave cream, and my cheap badger brush. Outstanding shaves!!!

Hey;
This mornings shave was;
Merkeur HD
Gillette 7 o'clock yellow
GZD Berber stick
And TGN brush
Finish with Razorock Alum and TN Dickinson witch hazel!
All in all a decent shave, slight irritation around the mouth, but I was mowing down 3 days growth.
This is pretty much my standard shave these days. I change the soap up everyday but the others stay the same.
Heads shave;
HB sport and Old Spice foam (gasp). Was in a hurry and keen to finish it off. Gonna grab some headslick today

Hi Gents: I am so glad to hear your SOTD replies. It was getting lonely. I thank you for joining me. Today SOTD was an incredible BBS face & dome shave with my trusty Merkur 37C. It has been awhile since I visited the Gillette Silver Blue blade so I decided to revisit it today. The Gillette Silver Blue blades are great. Sharp, smooth, and unforgiving with no tugs. I highly recommend GSB blades.
