Nice profile pic Ben. Keep the facial hair as it is (a few days growth). I have a full head of dark hair, even if I am shaved really smooth, the shadow of the dark roots is still showing and I don't mind. Get some sun on your head to give it some color but do not forget to put sunscreen. Best regards.

Welcome.

I have to say I think I have really good taste :) and I think you look great shaved. Much better than with hair.  I like the angular shape of you head and you look good even without facial hair. I wouldn't give it a secod thought to leave everything the way it is. But of course you have to experiment and decide what you like.

I agree! Give the sly look 30 days to see if You like it  and so you can get used to it. You can always grow it back.

I myself would not want to take any drugs for hair growth.

You look great with a shaved head.

Good luck and welcome to Sly Bald Guys.

I agree with what others are saying. The shaved head looks great, much better than with hair. Hope you keep it shaved. Shadow is there and can't really be avoided, even less on a white skin. Get some sun....and protection...a glossy after shave lotion will also help reduce the shadow effect

Thanks again for the Sly advice guys  :)

I actually don't mind the look. The shadow of the front hairline and the balding head behind it doesnt please my symmetrical eye. Does anybody else have that? - (is that what you were talking about npsbg?)

That will take care of itself in time.  In the meantime, it's just something you have to live with.  And remember, even though you can see the shadow and where the balding areas are, it still looks better shaved than it would grown out.

Chavster - I would agree with you. However, the choice isnt that easy for me. As i said in the opening post, the choice is between shaved or meds. Thats the only way i'd get back to that kind of hair and keep it over the next few years.

So the question was really should i shave it and forget about meds, even though it may not look as good - Or go on treatments.

I had cancer a few years ago, went thru some heavy duty chemo - and lost all my hair and eyebrows too. So at least i got the 'brows hanging around this time   O0

If you are a cancer survivor then that is the best reason I've heard yet not to pump your system full of unnecessary drugs.

Glad to hear that you are healthy once again.

I agree.  No un-necessary meds for you.  Besides the fact (in my opinion) you look better now than with hair!

Ok guys ive decided to stay sly, no more hair or medications  O0 (Sorry Chavster!)

One final wish i have before i settle into the look, i want to try and wax the thin hairline shadow off... I know its painful but i can do it in two strips so will be fine. Zipwax is the best kinda wax to use on the head, a few people have succesfully done their whole head...

Anybody know if how long waxing will last, and if it causes any strange regrowth patterns? (Due to hairs being in different growth phases when you wax em)

Cheers again

I've never waxed anything but I would think (as you mentioned) the hair being in different growth stages would still require your constant shaving. The waxing may also cause irritation for a short period of time (do you want to walk around with red bumpy head?) and it may also cause many ingrown hair issues. Not to mention the pain involved for a very temporary effect.
