if I ever found myself in NO, I think I'd probably stick to bottled water and Hostess twinkies. Between crushed duck guts, jambalaya (whatever THAT is) and beaver, I'd rather die of Hostess twinkie poisoning.
In NO, it might be bottled water, but more likely a bottle of Abita Amber or Turbodog or any of their other choices--a local brew that's gone viral nationally.  The crushed duck guts--that's Tour D'Argent in Paris, France--and if given the chance I'll eat your share.  Nutria, don't worry, haven't seen one in sometime, but did see a dead armadillo, a/k/a Texas Turkey on the Interstate yesterday--I've heard but never verified that those have been eaten.  Jambalaya, think of it as colonial paella.  Twinkies--eat your fill, we have heart  resuscitation  equipment if you do that too. Say, they might be good flambed for dessert!

That's ok - I'll have Chavster's Jambalaya ... and then some etoufee besides  :@` :@`

I found that the US sells China >130,000 tons of chicken feet annually. In every market in the PRC you'll see chicken feet raw, in a sauce and fried...thousands of them. It unbelievable how much they love them. I know they are eaten as snacks in some American countries, but not like they do in China.

 :P :P :P

My son-in-law just got back from China and they are wonderful people but they have some strange snacks.

Mmmm, what a lovely dinner... a nice plate of raw fish and then a couple of mouthfuls of beaver.

*X man pukey smiley*

That's not a meal, it's bait.    !*u%e

Yes, that's what it's known as down at the Jersey shore.

I spent a winter teaching English in an old farm commune in very rural China. The family I stayed with (and me) ate dried fish and dried tofu made the previous summer. There were some winter greens and a one was a stem made with a lot of garlic. When I ate it I always thought of road side weeds. I was cold all of the time and drank a lot of hot water. The poor don't drink tea. Very good folks and they treated me better than family.

That reminds me of goober burgers- a cheeseburger with mayo on the bottom bun and a blob of peanut butter on the top bun

That sounds amazing!!  *yum*

My kids eat peanut butter and bologna sandwiches .... which actually strikes me as a bit nasty (and haven't brought myself to try that one yet...)

Sort of an American mortadella, somewhat smaller diameter and no fat pieces showing although it's pretty high in fat content, but then most sausage is.

I could see the peanut butter and bologna being good, as long as the bologna has been fried a bit until slightly charred. Along the same lines, a fried hot dog isn't so bad with peanut butter, either.
Cold hot dogs or bologna with peanut butter? Not so much.  :px

The other day at the farmers market my beautiful woman tried very hard to stop me from buying a basket of, "Green Tomatoes". I told her I needed them for something special. Yesterday for breakfast she had toasted Genesis Bread with her first fried green tomatoes and she loved them. The proof was her asking me to make more so I fried two more for us to devour.
