So ive taken the plunge into shaving my dome. I have a headblade and so far things are going well. When i shave wtg i have no burn, but of course its not bbs. Ive tried going atg but when i do the headblade almost seems to get stuck. I have plenty of lube and am thinking i might not be using enough pressure. Any tips or tricks?
Right now Im scrubbing, wtg, xtg and occassionally atg. I am using kos shave gel cause ive found that stuff to be the slickest.
What's "bbs"?
We could really use a head shaving glossary here, BTW..

So far, I'm familiar with WTG, ATG, XTG, BBC, and BBN....
Anyhoo.. Here's my trick that helps in the back. While most guys shave first going WTF to get the stubble as short as possible before going ATG, I use an electric razor - the Conair Cleanhead, to be specific. It gets really close, but, I find that there is still definitely stubble there to get rid of when I follow it up with a blade ATG. It's just that the electric shaves a little closer than for me a blade going WTG. (But not ATG of course) Since I have to dance around a bunch of old transplant scars on the back of my noggin, I find this works best for me. Actually, I still prefer a regular razor for the very back and sides; but the HB works phenomenally well across the top and upper back, but again, that's because of my unique "landscape", which includes not only scars galore, but strong ridges and valleys as well. I got a knobby knoggin! (Hey, maybe that should've been my username here)
You don't need to apply any pressure on a HB, just imagine you're wiping your fingertips across your scalp, but s-l-o-w-l-y. You'll get the feel of it in no time. Also, keep the HB "level", where the wheels (if you use the sport model) or the back (if the regular model) are always in contact with your skin. The rear should never lift up. But neither should you ever bear down on it, either.
Smooth, even, and slow wins the ...errr.. race.. and you'll be buttery smooth and nick free.
Lastly, keeping the skin a bit taught will help as well, I think this is particularly applicable to the back of the head.
