I have noticed that a lot of the guys on here are having a tough time with negative comments that are being made to them. I can understand, as I would probably be a little upset, if some of those things were said to me. I've been lucky in that I've had very little negativity from friends and family. Most seem to like it or their just scared of saying something mean to me.
The first option is to just ignore it and walk away. However, I can also understand wanting to stand up for yourself and say something. That is what I would do.
So, how about firing off a few ideas for some good come-backs that the guys can use, when someone makes a smartass or negative comment to them.
Simple ones:
- It makes me feel better about myself.
- Because I stopped being so concerned about other people's opinions and did what made me happy.
- I'm just getting a head-start on nature
Smartass responses:
- You've obviously mistaken me for someone who gives a damn about your opinion.
- At least I can shave off my problem area.
- I'm not bald, I'm aerodynamically efficient.
- You wife/girlfriend sure seems to like it like this.
- How many ladies have rubbed your head this week?
- Chemo (then just walk away. He'll feel like sh*t.)
What others? Let's give our Sly brothers some ideas. -

I use to get and still do periodically the..." Well why did you do that for?" I just look at them and say "Because I can" usually they do not say another word. They just stand there and look dumbfound.

them: "I really don't like your head shaved."
me: "Go somewhere else." or my personal favorite: "Ok, pay my bills and I'll do it your way."
Honestly, I don't know what gets into people. I don't go around making comments about other peoples choices be it clothes, hair or anything else. -

I beleive Churchill used similar to this. It went as follows:-
woman "sir you are drunk!"
Churchill "that may be so madam, but you are ugly and I shall be sober in the morning!" -

I like Timmj's short and to the point approach. I use a similar response at times, "Because I felt like it..." -

I prefer to use humor than to pick a fight. Most people are just babbling thoughtlessly, and the most gentle indication that what they said could be taken as an insult snaps them back into line. -
