Just wanted to let you know that today, I traded in the flattop for the SLY!

My first headshave at a barbershop, straight razored with the grain. It feels like sandpaper now so I guess I'll have to do it right tomorrow, against the grain. Not my best look, at least I don't think but it's growing on me.

We'll keep cleaned up for the summer, or longer. I do like the feel of it, especially when there's a breeze.

It's about FREAKIN' time lol. I know the feeling Dave, went from my high and tight horseshoe to sly. But that was over two years ago. It's a great look for ya.

Hello Flatdave. I don't know why you say it's not the look for you. Personally, I think it looks great.

Thanks to everyone for the great comments. Like I said Papa Don, it's growing on me. I just got done shaving it against the grain, it's nice and smooth now. Also tried the ice cube method for shine, we'll see if it works. I am really diggin' this!v

Your post on going slick at the barbershop has got me thinking about making a trip into my barber for a good headshave. Havent rewarded myself for several years. Flat tops are sharp haircuts. I wore a horseshoe flat for years before going totally bald.
Nice! Hopefully you can find a barber that will shave it against the grain. Mine didn't and it felt like sandpaper after about 6 hours. Good luck!

I've got a good barber-hot towels, two times over against the grain, lots of chair time

Congratulations. It's normal to have some reservations about it at first, but it really looks good. You'll feel better about it 30 days from now.
