Did you ever fear being bald in the past?

I used to fear being bald. After, I gave in and shaved my head, I wish I had shaved it off long ago when I had full head of hair.

It is good to face up to your fears and see how silly they seem now. Most all of us agree that being bald is nothing to be afraid of. In fact, most of us prefer it.

Until I was say 40, I really feared balding. If I had it to do over again, I would have gone the way of Jason on this site-never had transplants-and had it lasered off clean by 30.

Most definately. My 6th grade teacher was bald w/ a fringe, ugly and otherwise hairy as a gorilla--we called him Harry Toiletseat in honor of his fringe!
When I realized that was within sight, it had to come off. Just wasn't going there and Sly was the only answer that made sense.

Guess I was like most kids/teenagers, in that I laughed along with my schoolmates at teachers etc who were bald or balding. But then, in the 80's there were still a lot of bad comb-overs about. I definitely feared going bald if it meant a comb-over.
But once I started receding (which I never classed as balding) I thought nothing of it.

I shaved because I fancied tryin it, and I've never gone back.

i still fear balding at times, although some days arent nearly as bad as others. i had a huge awakening today though which was a great feeling.
i took my 2 little cousins to the IX indoor amusement park today and noticed how many sly guys were around. there were literally 3 bald guys for every 5 guys and thats not an exaggeration. it felt awesome because i kinda felt at ease because ive never been around that many at once. and the best part was half of them were young like me with attractive g/fs, so it made me think that going bald isnt the end of the world after all lol. and although i didnt see any sly guys QUITE as young as me their were definately tons of sly guys in their mid to late 20's.
when i made eye contact with another sly brother, we just nodded heads and kept walking. cool feeling i must admit. so i guess wat im trying to say is, since shaving my head, today was the first REAL wakeup call that losing my hair wont be the worst thing in the world. a shaved head is a shaved head in other peoples eyes whether your balding or have a full head of hair. people dont notice the difference most of the time.
the only time my hairloss bugs me is when i constantly stand in front of the mirror looking at my head in different angles examining my bald spots under bright lights. if i skip looking in the mirror every time i walk by one, dont think about my hairloss, and just keep shaving my head everyday i soppose i can knock this "fear of balding" out completely. cuz from my persona experiance no one seems to be paying enough attention to my head to say something about my hairloss.

Yes. When I was a teenager and was starting to lose my hair (no visible loss yet. basically just shedding all over the house like a cat in the springtime) I was afraid I was going to end up looking like Phil Silvers. You can google an image of him. It used to give me nightmares.

I feared being bald a while ago when I first hit the teen years. Now, I love being bald. Though I can still grow a full head of hair, I choose to stay sly. It's just so damn cool

I have wanted to be bald for a long time - my fantasy was and is to wake up one day and find all of my hair on my pillow.

I never feared it for a second. I'm largely BBC (but it is receeding and thinning pretty fast), and it looks fine.
It's hard for me to relate to the guys who are bothered by it. I just personally never cared if my hair fell out.

I'm exactly the same, and really do find it hard to relate also. hair was never a big deal to me. Life is more important than hair any day!
