Welcome! I have to agree that the best route is to shave it off. I'll guarantee that you'll look much younger. If I had to guess from your picture, I would say you were definitely in your 40's. Give yourself a new release on life, and do what you already know you want to do. I will be shocked if you don't love it -- a definite boost to your confidence.

No offence meant, General, but from that photo I would have thought you were older than me, not younger. Take the comb-over off and it will make one helluva difference

I agree. I'm not trying to offend you, but the combover hairstyle makes you look much older than 30. I'm 30. Shaving your head will give you a much younger, cooler look. Go for it. You'll look great. You have a nice face. Hair is overrated.

Thank you everyone for all your input and warm welcome.
I'm a member of a couple of different forum's.
But this has got to be one of the most friendly one's I Have been part of, Plus i got more reply's than I expected.
It was nice to share and discuss a topic of hair loss that I don't like to talk to anyone about.
but after reading a few different topics on this forum. I found it easy to post one of mine.
I haven't yet shaved my head as yet but I have a 30th b/day party in March which might be a good time to show some old friends I haven't seen for years my new look.

March, that's fine, but consider today then by March any pale areas will have blended in. Just another SLY thought

Hope these fires aren't hurting you and yours.

I just found out most of my recent pictures I've got a hat on.

me at a wedding.
Go for the shave!! From this pic I can say you are going to look GREAT!!

You are much more worried than you should have to... trust me.

I would have to agree: the sooner you try it, if that's what you want to do, the better. You'll be under a lot of pressure appearing with your new look at a 30th party, and you might not feel you can do it. If you try it now, at least some folk will have gotten used to it by the big day, and so will you.

Hey, General ~ Nice to start out a new decade (your thirties) free of hair. But I agree with the other posts that suggest doing it sooner than that, so you have a little time to get some color and become accustomed to the new you. Good Luck!

Hey General!
Just go for it. The sooner the better. You'll need a little time to get the dome tanned to the point that it blends in with your face, but that will be necessary whenever you finally do the deed so why not do it now.
Also, if the gym you join is anything like mine you will find many of the guys sporting the sly look there. Just the way it is.
So welcome to the board and, soon I hope, to the bald guy fraternity.

Hey General, welcome to SBG's. You've come to the right place, as you can already tell.
I gotta echo my sly bro's and say; ditch the combover, and the hat, and get out there!
Start your thirties with a new confidence and outlook on life. You will feel better than ever.

Hey General, welcome to SBG! Like the others, after seeing the pic I think it's time. Normally I'd recommend to buzz it first, but bro, I think you should go to a barber and tell him to take it all off. Then start shaving it on your own from that point on. Give it 30 days and I promise you that you'll find a freedom that you never thought you'd experience.
