MPB.
Re TBBC, I think that young guys might start BBC, and discover a few years later that under the cover of Sly, mpb has developed. In such cases you could be described as FBBC, Formerly bbc, or TBBC as BA suggests. I think the honest thing to do, h/o, would be to step up to MPB, b/c BBC denotes an ability you no longer have, i.e. to stop shaving and become a Hair Guy again. It's a style choice for the truely bbc tp be Sly, for mpb is a sane choice. The Sly attitude is to support choice.
I don't want to point out the sly brother that in this thread claims bbc, but in a recent thread admitted that mpb was apparent. There's no harm in becoming mpb, either early, middle or late in life. The harm comes in letting mpb drive your life whether you chose sly or horseshoe.

But to say that you're both is ridiculous.
No. Making ridiculous statements like this is what is ridiculous.
I
am both. Just because I'm MPB doesn't mean I did not make a conscious choice to be shaved bald. I could have gone the route of the majority of MPB guys. I could have sported a comb-over. I could have put a rat's nest of a wig on my head and tried to fool people. I could have mutilated by head with transplants. I could have joined the scam called Hair Club for Men. I could have joined the ranks of those ransomed to Rogaine or other drugs for the rest of their lives.
No. I
chose to simply shave it off. This doesn't make me any less BBC than anyone else.
I hate this question too when it comes up every other month because it tries to divide our community in first-class BBC sly guys and second-class MPB sly guys.
I ain't buying it.

I guess it shows my egocentric nature, but I've always thought we MPB guys were considered first class when this was discussed, and BBC had overtones of wannabes until they developed mpb

! MPB, is it the REAL thing?

Personally, I didn't realize this was a pissing contest. I just thought we were all here because we love our shaved heads. I guess I'M the stupid one.

I hate this whole question (all 1,000,000 times it's been asked). Those that say both, I think, is really stupid. Either you have MPB or you don't. Either your MPB lead to you shaving your head or you shave your head because you like it. But to say that you're both is ridiculous. That being said very few people are totally bald naturally, some skin disease, chemo treatment, etc. causing it. The rest of us shave what hair we have left on our head be it a full head or a partially balding head. So if you must try to convince yourself that you are bbc when you have mpb use BA's term TBBC.
I agree mostly, but what if you went sly b4 you started balding???
as for SlyinKC, my hair is thinning too, but I would def. classify that as MPB
I always considered MPB to be a horseshoe.
so you dont consider a receding hairline as MPB? lol

Yeah, I didnt mean to stir up controversy I just was curious to see the difference. I always though of mpb as anything from a little receding to the full loss on top. I may have never thought about living the sly life if it weren't for my hair loss. Not saying that I have anything wrong with anyone who does for any reason. So maybe I left the question too broad. But I did say don't answer it if you don't want, which should be a given.

Exactly. That's why this perennial subject irks me so much. Who cares why we're sly!

I'm another one who was receding at the temples, but that's not why I went SLY. I went sly because I liked the look and not because I was receding. i still have a full head of hair on the top (nowhere near a horseshoe) so I still class myself as BBC

I have a full head of hair but my forehead keeps getting bigger. Does that make me BBC, MPB or GFS (Growing Forehead Syndrome)?

I think the Norwood/Hamilton hair loss chart classifies a receding hairline along w/ all the other patterns as mpb or male hair loss. A lot of us, including myself, kept kidding ourselves for years that we didn't have mpb, or that it was just a "high forehead" or other bs. Big mistake, wish I hadn't made it, but I can't undo that either. It's mpb, get over it, shave it, buzz it tight or learn to live with what looks like a dead animal on top of your head. I'm a V or VI on the chart, and moving on I guess. Since most of what I find unattractive for me is gone, FI, I'm moving on. Not admitting it, if it makes you feel good, fine, but the mirror and time don't lie.
