My wife and I have talked about it, but no plans as of yet. She has always wanted to go since her maiden name is Campbell. My ancestors come from Ireland, explains my love for the bottle I guess! LOL
It would be cool to come visit.
Come on over. You will love it.
Thanks for all the replies guys. Seriously, if you are comin over to my neck of the woods, let me know. Good to meet up for a drink or 12

That reminded me of a business trip to Scotland, to Stornaway, and after the solicitor and I had finished our business for the day--I was flying out the next morning--he took me on a pub crawl and the introduction to more single malts than I'd ever imagined existed. At that time they were still pretty new and exotic in the States. Wonderful time, beautiful countryside. I flew the next day to Inverness then took a slow 5 day drive ending in Edinbourgh (sp?). Great time, many super memories. Then an overnight sleeper to London to meet the wife for a week before heading back to the States. That was a great trip.
I attended a meeting today in which we discussed resurrecting an old local tradition of celebrating Robert Burns' birthday. Do they still celebrate his birthday in Scotland?

Yes. Every year. And with this being the 250th, its even bigger. Its being billed as the year of homecoming when all Scots around the world should return to the home country. Should be good
I understand that years ago in my hometown, it was quite a celebration. Food, dancing, singing, poetry reading, and lots of drinking. Unfortunately we are planning a tamer celebration.
