I found this site yesterday and enjoyed looking at site very much. I want to become slybald and need all the encouragement to do it. I am 57 years old and have been MPB for years. I normally trim it very low every six weeks by my barber. I have been afraid to go all the way for years. I lived in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania and would very much like to meet some of you who lived nearby and maybe that will get me to go all the way. Everyone on the site sounds and every looks great. I do not owed a camera so I need someone to take a before and after picture for me and help me put it on the site.

OK , in no way shape or form is this to poke fun at you bro, but come on you are 57 years old. Maybe I am just looking at this the wrong way. It seems to me that at your age, you should have learned by now that it doesnt matter what people think. Its your noggin right? Now take a 20 something year old and yes maybe I can see where they would need more encouragement. More than likely though, as we get into our upper years, our hair is already thinning, but I have seen men in their 70's with a full head of hair.
I say go for it. Easy for me to say? Yes because I have already done the deed and I am sitting here at 38 years old. Its great, its freedom and it knocks the socks off the ladies...( now if this was champ sitting here saying this he would say it knocks the panties right off of em LOL)
Anyways Bro, just hang around in here for a while, read up and I am sure you will get the best info and support from this group.
Someone once said that when someone comes in here that we just automatically just tell the person in question to just shave it. Ya know, its the only way you are going to find out if you like it or not. What have you got to loose? maybe a month or so without any hair, depending on how much you actually do have? If you have a full head of hair, it will grow back. Its kind of like a new car, you wont know if you like it or not if you do not take it for a test drive. So get into the drivers seat of your life and go places you never have been before. All roads lead back to home....Good luck

Theres not a huge difference between buzzing it short and shaving it. Only thing is the sly look will make you appear to be cooler.

Hey, man. I'll tell you something I have noticed over the half year or so that I have been shaving my head. I can go a week without shaving if I am lazy (or too poor to buy some blades) and no one notices. Really short and bald is about the same to everyone. But I have dandriff and lots of oil if I let hair grow. Plus I can wear a hat and not have velcro head. And I just genuinely like it better shaved all the way off.
But trust me. People really aren't paying too much attention to your head to notice a couple millimeters. You're just not that important to most people. Don't worry, neither am I.

Shave it. My father is 67 and I got him to shave his head 2 years ago. He told me he thought he was to old to learn anything and he never thought he would feel confident about his look again.
I proved him wrong

Hey Al, so you are fifty-seven with mpb. So what, I'm 63 with a full head of hair. I am now two months sly. I always hated the texture of my hair, so one day on a whim-zip! GONE. I have never looked back. This absolutely the only way to go. I love the freedom from hair. I say "Go Forth & Live!!!!!!!"

Hi Friend, I'm also 57 and love being bald. A good way to work into a full bald head is to get yourself an electric hair clipper like the barber uses and take your hair down shorter and shorter as you build confidence. Eventually you can buzz it all the way without a guard on the clipper and then you are only one step away from a smooth razor shave. There's nothing like it. I'm sure as you build confidence you will come to love your bald head. And always remember no one knows what you're thinking so when you go out in public just think "I look great". Good luck.

Hey,
I am new to the site also but welcome anyway. I have come to the conclusion that life is too short to worry about what people think of me. And as sum1 has already said, not much difference between clipped and the Full Monty.
Go for it. You will love it
Best wishes
Steve
