become Captain Stubing from the LoveBoat?!?

Geez...seems the "cool Hollywood" move is to go back to the 70's horseshoe bald look...

looks like him and Billy Zane share the same barber these days...

only thing Ed is missing is the 70's stache...

Awful!

 O0NOT!

I don't know dudes?  I think it all goes back to confidence.  I think Ed Harris rocks the thinning hair pretty good.  Just like Gene Hackman or Jack Nicholson.  They all can act the heck out of some scenes and I don't even notice their hair most the time.

Ok, ok.  Maybe not necessarily, "rocks the thinning look" was a good way to put it.  ;D  Maybe I should have said, "wears it proudly."  To each his own dude.  I think it all comes down to being confident or not.  I mean, there are a lot of people out there who think we look silly for shaving our heads.  There are people out there that think that we have the problem.  Like we can't just be happy with ourselves the way we are and that's why we have to shave.  Sometimes the way I look at it is that the guys with thinning hair that don't shave have more confidence than we do.  Because they don't let what others think about their hair thinning bother them.  They are going to ROCK what they were given no matter what.  I think a few people made some good points on this subject in another thread.  I think it was called something like "should balding men shave their heads."  I don't know guys?  I'm not trying to make an issue out of it here.  I mean, the last thing I want to do is start a fuss between Sly Bros about it being cool for some guys NOT to shave their heads.  It just seems like a few of us are starting to almost attack people because they are basically happy the way they are.  We speak out if people attack us for wanting to shave our heads for the different reasons we do.  So who are we to say others are sad for not doing like we do?

...and nobody rocks the thinning look?

Jason Statham does a pretty good job.

Hey guys.  I'm just shooting the breeze here.  It's all good.  I can see your point of views too.   O0

There was an editorial in the recent GQ that I just picked up at the airport. It highlights men who are balding but decide to keep the "power donut". It was okay except that it blasted us sly guys for shaving because it has become mainstream and everyone does it  :Xo!

They show off President Ford, Harris, and I think Terry Bradshaw. Then they have the nerve to make pokes at Chiklis and Howie Mandel. I still like the mag as my go to business trip read, but I was not happy until I got to the part about movie hotties.

Andre, dude.  It's all good man.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion.  You made your point and I made mine.  Why do you say, "Your time here is over."  To that I say, "WTF?"  I think you took my response the wrong way.  I wasn't saying anything about how being sly isn't the ultimate in my book.  I love shaving my head and I think the sly look is the best way to go.  But it's the negative remarks you were making about some people that chose to keep their thinning hair.  Like saying, "It's awful."  My point was that maybe to you it is "awful" but to Ed Harris, or anyone else that keeps their thinning hair, maybe they aren't so self-conscious that they feel the need to shave it.  It's almost like a double standard around here with some people.  Some people around here want to talk about how they love to be sly and they can't stand negative feedback about shaving their head.  Or how they can't stand people judging them because they shave their head.  Then I see those same people bashing "others" just because the "others" don't shave like they do.   ???

You know what man...I don't know how serious you were about the statement you made?  The one where you said, "Guess my time here is over."  But don't go anywhere.  Because I'll leave again.  This is why I left the first time a long while back.  That is, the time before I was banned for standing up for this site.  Because I thought this was supposed to be a forum where you can come and have a difference of opinion without worrying about stepping on other people's toes.  But it's like every time I give it another try here someone wants to get all bent out of shape about something as soon as the discussion isn't in total agreement with what the other person says.  To be honest, I'm really not sure how things work here anyway.  I mean, I was banned from here in the past for standing up for this site while other people that had bashed SBG were allowed to roam freely on here still.  Now that deserves a WTF?   ???

You don't mean that BA! I agree with you buddy, a clean shaved head  is the ultimate look. Ed Harris, Billy Zane, and Jesse Ventura have opted to sport their horseshoe. Why would they make such a backward choice? I say they're just plain lazy.

Cool or uncool, I have a full head of hair that I opt to shave 'cause I like it, my wife likes it, and it's the perfect haircut for my active lifestyle.

I agree with Lance on most of his points.
Although many people come to this forum for different reasons, I came to SBG to help build confidence in my MPB.  Shaving my head was/is a liberating experience, but if other men can achieve confidence with a horse shoe, more power to them.

I really don't understand what this tempest in a teapot is all about.  I have not once, in the two years that I've been a member  here, seen anyone being bashed for not shaving his head.  In fact, this is probably the most non-judgmental group on the web that I've ever come across.

Stating an opinion about a celebrity's appearance is not "bashing", and is fair game as far as I'm concerned.

Sure, they're fair game and that's all good.  Just like any topic is fair game.  But you don't consider calling whatever you are talking about "awful" a form of bashing someone?  What if someone said that because you shaved your head you look "awful?"  Now being honest, tell me that you would not be a little offended.  I bet then you would consider that someone "bashing" you for shaving your head.

Baldandre, Razor, and anyone else that feels I may have taken this thread to a unnecessary level...I really have no personal problem with you at all.  I guess I just get to passionate about some of the topics on here once in a while.  I guess that's why a forum just is not meant for me.  I didn't mean anything hurtful I may have said on here.  It's just that we are supposed to be this positive community and we all seem to be nice guys.  Accepting of others no matter what.  We all talk about name calling toward us sometimes because we shave our heads.  We talk about how people are so simple minded because they stereotype us because of us shaving our heads.  We say how ignorant those kind of people are.  We all shave our heads for different reasons.  Whether it's because of thinning or balding hair, just to have a different hair style, or whatever the reason.  Any reason we do is fine and that's our choice.  Nobody has any right to judge us before they know us just because we chose to shave our heads.  So why should we judge people that really do not care if their hair is thinning and want to keep it.  To be honest, I kind of envy those kind of people.  The reason being is because I think they actually might be more self secure than some of us.  I know that some guys on here, and in general, only shave their heads just to try something different.  Those people or not balding or thinning.  But the ones of us who are thinning and balding...Why is it exactly that we shave it?  Is it because we are so self-conscious that we worry so much about what people will think of us if we just leave our hair alone?  Hmmm?  So to me, I believe those actors and just regular "joes" that leave their thinning hair alone are probably more happier with themselves.  I'm actually glad this thread was made and that it got "out of hand."  It has given me a new perspective on this whole thing.  Much love and peace to all the people at SBG.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... more power to anyone who is confident with their bald OR balding head.

We are not better because we shave our heads, we are better because we have gained confidence through doing so.

My view is that we are a positive community that supports each other, we don't need to resort to finding bad pictures of men losing their hair to make us feel better. I think we all have enough old photos of ourselves to look at should we ever need backing that we're doing the right thing.

Side note:
BALDANDRE, you are always one of the first people to pump a bald or balding brother up, and for that I respect you brother!

Now its my turn >:(     I'm sorry for the rant to follow but it need to be said, I know it long but please read.

The purpose of this site is to help those who have a problem with MPB. It is a place for them to come and get a bit of confidense back from us and the things that we have gone through. As I under stood it we were only against rugs, drugs, and plugs. We have always told the fencers that they needed to do what makes them feel better about themselves no matter if they shaved or not. I do agree that every time a thread is started about someone with MPB and we've made stupid comments about they're hair, whether its intended to be in juest or not it is still bashing. I remember a thread where Carlin stated a similar comment about shaved white guys and we all took major offense. Guess what. same same.

I don't think anyone needs to leave over this but, I do think we need to start playing nice and quit this stupid sh*t. We are adults here and we should be able to have an opinion without some one bashing us or getting there feelings hurt. We need to grow up and quit picking on people and getting all bent out of shape when someone does make a comment that we might not like. Just like we tell the newbies, it really has no effect on our own lives what some one else might think of a certain comment, so let it roll off your shoulder and move the hell on.

I love this site and shaving my head as much if not more than the next member here, but I also don't agree with everything that goes on all the time, but there is alot that I do agree with so it does balance out.

So stop bashing or picking on people, for whatever reason, and if some just has to make a stupid comment that might just offend you then just say screw it and move on to one of hundreds of other great topics to read and respond to.
