Actually, I went SLY a couple of years ago, but brand-spankin'-new to this forum.
After having a head of full, thick, fast-growing and sometimes long-ish hair, it started to rapidly vanish in my mid-20s (I subscribe to the theory that, in my case anyway, it's an X-chromosome trait; my pattern is most like a great-grandfather on my mother's side). I gradually wore it shorter and shorter, from a sort of "fade" style to a crew cut, to a complete, zero-guard buzz by the time I was in my early-30s.
A couple of years ago I was getting ready to go to a party, and still lamenting my loss and dissatisfied with my appearance, in a moment of rash action, I lathered up and shaved it all off, down to the skin. SLY. And except for a few days here and there where I've gone unshaved to give my scalp a break, I haven't looked back.
I must say, I like the look. Sometimes I miss the hair, but most of the time, I don't! I've had friends and family tell me I look years younger. I'm 38 now, and just a few weeks ago I had a longtime friend forget and think I'd just turned 30. And yes, the chicks dig it! The first two weeks after first going SLY, I noticed a highly appreciable increase in the amount of female attention I was receiving (as an aside, I'm not a big fan of facial hair, I just find it itchy and generally uncomfortable, but when I occasionally allow myself a 2-3 day goatee, I notice that I tend to hold women's gaze a few seconds longer).
I must say that I've gotten now where I don't care for going unshaven for more than a day, stubble itches and more than looks, going SLY just feels great! My favorite thing is driving with my windows open and feeling the breeze on my freshly-shaved noggin.
When I'm not just hangin' out, bein' SLY, I am a native and lifelong resident of Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and the proud father of a beautiful and brilliant 5-year-old girl. I am a financial consultant in the commercial real estate industry, newly single, a Christian, and a card-carrying member of the Libertarian Party. I play the guitar (very badly), occasionally try my hand at golf (also badly), and enjoy politics, history, outdoors activities (hiking, camping, and whitewater rafting), and sitting around with my friends over a drink and a cigar and solving the world's problems.
