Welcome to the Wonderful world of slyness! I applaud the holding off 'til you could get a good razor - carving up your noggin on your first try could definitely turn you off to the joy the rest of us already know! The Mach 3 would be a great first choice - I used one for years! Also, the 4 blade razors. I can't add an endorsement for the Headblade like a lot of the other guys here, my experiences with it have not been pleasant. Post a pic when you can!

I don't know... I shaved last night. On the balance, I don't know if I look any better. I look like crap either way, so I guess it doesnt matter.
