at our weekly church wide supper. This little kid, who I know very well as his sister babysits our kids frequently, leans over and asks me "What do you polish your head with?"
I told him, "nothing, It's naturally shiny." Kids are great aren't they?! He looks at me a minute and says, "Really though, I can see the lights in your head." "Good, that means I did it right."
Then he goes to his dad who is sitting next to me and I hear him say, "Dad, can you see the lights on Mr. Stephen's head?" He was talking about the lights in the dining room. Everyone at the table at this point just cracks up.

I just love kids. There are so honest and real. Sounds like you were doing pretty good at entertaining the little guy. I know I've had similar responses from kids at church and at my kids games and school. Before going SLY, I always dreaded getting the kids comments about my "thinning" hair. (and I got a few of them). Now I enjoy the attention.

Kids are a big part of what life is about.... whether they are your own or somebody else's. They can bring a smile to my face on even the most rotten of days......

Thats funny. I didnt think much about this and even as much as posting it but since you mentioned church it just made me remember what happened this past sunday at church. Our "fill in pastor" was using the ear piece mic when it shorted out or something and had to end up using the hand held. Well his podium wasnt up there because at first he didnt need it. One of the members of the church who helps with the communion, is also a head shaver, ask me where they keep the podium at. He and I get up and go to the " green room" and carry it out and put it up on the platform. We go and sit back down and everyone was laughing...right in the middle of his sermon. We sorta look around and he had stopped preaching adn was just smiling at us. We hear him say...You both have no idea what we are laughing about do you? We just look at each other....evidently a lady who found the sermon rather boring hollers out....if it werent for those to bright lights moving around up there I would have been passed out! I woke up and thought I was at a disco. ... LOL. SHe was talking about us...because our auditorium is usually very dim with only spot lights up on the platform, and our heads were reflecting...
Granted it probably wasnt the most appropriate time for a joke...but this "fill in pastor" is rather boring..... -

Years ago, I was staying at a friends house for a visit and he had 3 kids that were 2,3, and 4 years old. It was a Sunday afternoon and we had just returned from the golf course after walking 36 holes. We were beat. He went to his room to take a nap, and I fell asleep on the couch. I awok a couple of hours later to about 10 adults laughing at something and I didn't know what. My friend had arranged for his friends to come over for a dinner party that evening. they had gotten there a 15 minutes earlier, so my GOOD friend took me around to everyone and introduced me to them. 30 minutes of chit-chat, and I excused my self to go clean up. I went to the bathroom to take a quick shower, and I happen to glance in the mirror and scared myself to death. His kids, had taken it upon themselves to draw hair on my head with a sharpie pen. I was shocked....but we all got a good laugh out of it. especially when I found out how well sharpie pen stays on skin.....

There are these wipes for women that help take off makeup. Sharpie comes right off with one wipe. I know, cause I draw faces on the back of my head for kids.
