give you some pretty valuable information.

I quit smoking about a year and 8 months ago.
I was sick (yet again) with a cough and had had enough.
It's great, I don't hack up lougies, my sinus aren't messed up all the time, I can walk for 5 miles no problemo and my hands don't smell like butt.

You want to know the big secret to quitting? Don't put a cigarette in you mouth and light it.
Thats it.
Your body only has physical withdrawls for a few days after quitting.
After that it's all a mental game.... nothing more.
Taking up walking is a great idea. Keeps your mind off the cigs, and you'll actually be able to feel the good quitting is doing to you over time as you can breathe again deeply and fully without coughing up gooey tan LOUGIES!!!

I've not been categorically HOOKED....dabbled here and there...

But one thing that helped me think differently about smoking was when my doctor said that smoking is simply committing suicide on the installment plan......YIKES

Best of damn luck....and remember, yer not looking for perfection.....if something should happen......don't self-loath and just throw in the towel.....

This Labor Day will mark my 1 year anniversary.

This is the 3rd and final time that I have quit smoking, first time was for almost 5 years, second for about 6 months and now this one will be forever.

Each time you 'quit' it gets harder and harder... and that is what helped me get through it this time, knowing that I do NOT want to go through that hell again. For me the bad cravings lasted about a week, then you progressively think about it less and less and just the smell of it starts to annoy you (it smells terrible when you don't smoke).

Trust me, if I can do it - ANYONE can.

To this day I could go for one now and then, especially sitting around the fire having a few beers... but after 10 seconds or so the craving disappears and life is good again.

Try thinking of it this way...
You're not quitting, you're just a non-smoker now.

Also, if you do drink beer and eat like crap (like I do) try eating healthy and lay back on the alcohol for at least a couple weeks, it really helps.

One last tip... When you think about it, the part of smoking you enjoy is probably the relaxation it gives you. Guess what? That isn't the cigarette, it's the slow, deep breaths you take when smoking! Try it next time you have a craving, just inhale slow and deep like you would if you were inhaling, heck, hold your fingers in front of your mouth if you have to (like you're holding one)... Feels GREAT and you're not smoking.

You'll be fine... a week goes faster than you think, after that it's a mind game and constant decision not to light up. The reward of not doing it is awesome and will be with you for the rest of your life.

My dad sucked on peppermints and atomic fireballs when he had cravings.  He's been smoke free for a few years now.
