The recent surge in "slynaversaries" shows that this site has had a tremendous impact on a number of people's lives. Some of us were already shaved when we got here, but I'm just wondering how many of you shaved specifically because someone in this forum convinced you to go for it. Thought it would be kind of interesting to get an unofficial count of how many new sly guys have been created.

I hate to sound like a broken record, because I know I said this many times before; this site is what gave me the courage to finally go for it after fencing for a long time. And you, Razor, were one of the one's the helped to throw (I mean nudge) me off the fence.

I got help from the guys that were here before me. My thanks to Tyler, Pigpen, Paul and Pburke (others too). Professor Melon was also an encouragement. I doubt that I ever would have gone SLY if not for this site and great friends.

Max, I can't even remember you being on the fence. Seems like you were always here and always sly.

I actually shaved my head after getting tips and advice from one of our brother sites, but a few of the members on that site are also members here. No doubt that I've learned much from this site as well, however, just that I came across it after going through with the deed.

I signed on just over a year ago with my retreating hairline.
It was right around the same time that Rick (SLYinKC) joined, but I didn't take the plunge as fast as he did. I was still just getting a really short buzz cut at the time and battling the back-and-forth anxiety to go slick SLY. Along the way, lots of good people here like RazorX and wpruitt offered the just the right blunt, insightful encouragement that they knew would result in a huge confidence boost once I went for it. Ultimately, though, it was the persistence and support from BALDANDRE and Rick (SLYinKC) that I finally went for it. Those dudes are like SLY big brothers!

I had been shaving about 5 months prior to joining SBG on July 31 2007 but the wealth of information and experiences gained from the great members here improved my routine and made it much more enjoyable.
I have you all to thank for that.

I went from a full head of hair to BBC in November of 2006 and let it grow out several times until February of 2007 when I discovered SBG. Thanks to the support of other BBCer's and the great tips and techniques from all the brothers here I haven't back slipped once. Thanks guys.

I had been shaving for years before I found this site.
I was more of a shave once a week type of guy before I came here, now I shave daily (most of the time).
This site introduced me to the Headblade and gave me a sense of pride in shaving my head I had not had before as well as boosting my pride in having a shaved head.
I am no longer just some guy out there that shaves his head, I am a Sly Bald Guy.

HERE!HERE! MARZ!
I had been shaving for about (6) months before I found this site. Now I'm not even sure what I was really looking for when I found this site. It doesn't matter now because like shaving my head, this site has become a part of my daily life.

I knew for a long time that I was going to do it, but lurking here gave me the nudge to try buzz, and that was 9/7/07. I kept lurking, and considering my options--and learned here that guys from all walks of life had been through the same process--and kept going down on the guards, finally doing the buzz myself to keep it neat. A cousin gave me the real push, and so, 10/12/07 I went sly, 35 days after starting sly. Joined 10/17/07, I felt that I couldn't "join up" until I had bladed it down--I was wrong but I got to the right place.
BENEFITS--when I had the strange sensations on my scalp--numbness and breezes--this place assured me it was normal, and the really weird coincidence was that I was rubbing the Hell out of my head and beginning to think I was some sort of weirdo, when what should appear but a thread on self rubs, and low and behold we all do it. It was from then and remains now a site that is a touchstone to my sly self. Also, I've met on line and in person some amazing and funny guys.
SO DID THIS SITE "PUSH" me over to sly, not entirely, but it was one of two major influences. Now, who has the site for my wife to get her "with the program?" But, as in life generally, we can't have it all.
