The Dreaded Shadow

I'm sure this has been covered ad nauseum---I just haven't found it. So, here's a new thread.
Anyway, I shave and shave and shave and still have that damned shadow. What is the best way to minimize that crappy look--short of full-blown lasering?
I suppose once I get some more sun, it will be better---but I'd love it to be gone. GONE I tells ya.

If your scalp can take it without bumping, try shaving against the grain...Done that yet?

A tan really helps.
Personally, I just don't worry about it.

Look who's talkin'. Trucker from the looks of your stache you must have light head hair. That shouldn't cause much of a dreaded shadow even without a tan.
I have to deal with dark hair. I use a self-tanner with an SPF. Seems work most of the time. Products like aloe vera gel that add shine to the dome help diminish the shadow too.

I have the same problem. My family has been blessed (or cursed) with copius amounts of hair.So i have that 5 o'clock shadow at noon!!! I want to get rid of it too. A pal of mine with a pale complexion actually dyed his hair blond and then went sly, thereby making the scalp hairs remaining very pale. Looked good on him but i wouldn't try it.
Like others,i try not to think about it.

LOL My hair is brown when long but quite a bit darker when short. It lightens a great deal with sun exposure. I have a pronounced shadow but just don't worry about it.

I get a pretty good shadow by the end of the day. I already shave as smooth as I can, so I figure there isn't much more I can do. It doesn't bother me too much, but I'd like to get rid of it.

I hate shadow too, and sometimes I just shave twice a day if I want to look sly in the evening. Other than that I just dont worry about it.

I hated it at first when I started head shaving but there is really nothing you can do to get rid of it entireley without laser hair removal or epilating. I've learned to live with it.

Ok, I'm bummed now.
Part of the reason for my slyification was to be bald by choice. I've spent years under a baseball hat trying to hide the MPB outline and this isn't really much better. I shave against the grain, in the shower, multiple times--until I am as smooth as a baby's butt, but you can still see the VERY dark horseshoe of hair.
I'm kicking the laser idea around a little, but was looking for something less drastic.

notorious seg: i'm with ya on the dreaded shadow however, i've learned 2 accept it. as much as i'm intrigued with the "laser"... i don't think that i will do it because of the mulitple sessions, pain, and money. keep us posted if U decide 2 go the laser route.

Notorius SEG, if permanet hair removal is what you want and you do not like having the Horseshoe shadow.
Might I suggest to you using an Epilator. These devices rip the hair out from the root and from what I hear,it is incredibly painful but the end result with give you a near shadow free dome.
http://www.scalptweezing.comA member of our site Zetaeffe has done this, perhaps PM to get some information.

Allow it to tan before doing anything rash. A tan really will make it less obvious and honestly other people won't really notice it as much as you do.
